I want to give a shout out Nathaniel and Nick with Geomy Pohl for their professionalism from the bidding process all the way through to the finish work. Their entire team even stepped in to help our iron workers get their massive 300 lbs steel posts cut down to fit under the gutters, and helped get them set in place and leveled. If you are needing concrete work done, I would highly recommend GP. Best in town.
You won't find a better concrete contractor. They did stem walls and slabs for my home in Albuquerque and cabin up near Regina NM. I also had them do some beautiful flatwork in my back yard. Their workmanship is top notch. They get busy, so you might have to push a bit to get a quote or schedule, but the wait is worth it.
Geomy Pohl is flat-out excellent at what they do. What an amazing group of people. They recently replaced my back patio and the driveway in my carport. First they had to break out the old concrete, using a Bobcat and hand-held tools, and somehow they did this heavy, destructive labor without damaging anything at all that needed to remain! I was expecting some damage as inevitable, but they were so careful and so skilled that there was no damage. (Special shout-out to the guy so expertly working the Bobcat!) The next day they got ready to pour the new concrete. I have eight metal posts holding up the carport, and there was some old concrete around the base of each post that the tear-down guys had left, telling me it was extra-strong concrete so they couldn’t get rid of all of it. The plan was just to pour the new concrete around those patches of old concrete holding the posts. But on the second day, sweet Nick, the foreman, showed up, evaluated things, and asked me if I’d like him to cut the old concrete into triangle shapes, so that it would look better. I said sure, and Nick took some kind of big circular saw and spent time carefully cutting these triangles for me. He had no trouble handling the saw, but it had to have been hard work. He had to bend down the whole time, holding this heavy saw while carefully cutting eight perfect shapes out of extra-tough concrete. He did this voluntarily, on his own suggestion, just because he takes so much pride in the work and cares so much about the customer. And, he was the foreman, but he didn’t assign this job to someone else, he did it himself. Look at the photos--the driveway isn’t a construction job, it’s craftsmanship! It will make me happy every time I look at it, for the rest of my life. They also made a perfect, beautiful back patio for me, just exactly the way I asked them to, even though what I wanted meant they had to balance all these complicated factors to pull it off. Nick measured perfectly, got the slant perfect, everything perfect, perfect, perfect. Fernando led the crew in cleaning up at the end. They left my yard, front and back, looking like nothing had even happened there. I had had racoons coming into my yard for a few nights and using the base of a tree as their personal toilet. I went out to take care of the tree after the guys left and I did a double-take. They had cleaned up the racoon poop for me!! My god, who does this? I love every single one of these men!
I greatly appreciate Pohl Concrete's prompt response for my request to have an estimate done regarding removal and replacement of our outdoor concrete steps and sidewalks. Jeremy returned my call on the same day and scheduled an estimate within three days. Jeremy showed up on time and was very pleasant, respectful and knowledgeable as he evaluated our project. He sent us a very fair and competitive bid the same day and followed up with us the next day. We have not yet decided who we will be using for this project but Jeremy's responsiveness and communication gives us a lot of confidence should we decide to use Pohl Concrete.
