We gave Jonathan a challenging job. Our house was built in 1888. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was 40+ years since anyone paid attention to our foundation. It wasn't in good shape when we bought the house 22 years ago. We always had a layer of dust on the floor since the mortar was crumbling. I could feel the wind come through. We called the basement “the dungeon."Jonathan responded as soon as I called. He came that same day to look at the job. I got a quote right after that. And when I approved the quote, he let me know exactly when his crew would arrive. It was so easy.I loved his team. They showed up at 8 AM and left at 4 PM. They were extremely considerate, offering to help me with my grocery bags when I got home from the supermarket (even though they were in the middle of work). They left everything much cleaner than they found it. My washer and dryer, which were full of dust and detergent, are now like new.I had a closet wedged into a back corner and attached to the rafters with screws. It made the job more complicated - his team had to disassemble the closet. It was not an issue.I had asked Jonathan to repair one front step. The crew repaired all four.The job lasted about a week. Every night I was excited to come home and see the progress. I'm especially excited about the new sump pump.You can see what a beautiful job Jonathan's team did. We recently had StoneBase Masonry repoint our 120+ year old granite block foundation. We also had them repoint the brick base of the chimney. It was a great experience all around, from quick, responsive communication to highly skilled workers who obviously took great pride in their work. In 2 weeks time, our stone foundation was transformed from what looked like a "Flintstone edition"Jenga game nightmare to a very secure, pleasing space. The results were well worth enduring the mounds of dust, for which we were amply forewarned.
We have an old house (built in 1927) that we moved into just a few years ago and when our walls started cracking within months of getting freshly painted, we knew it couldn't just be the house settling and asked Jonathan at Stonebase and another foundation specialist to come take a look at our foundation. The other specialist took a quick look, didn't seem concerned by the big cracks in the basement walls that we pointed out, and gave us a very budget-friendly quote, saying that our foundation was in good shape. Jonathan came out and really took his time, carefully examining from both inside the basement and outside, and drew our attention to significant issues we hadn't noticed ourselves. The thoroughness of his inspection was impressive and inspired confidence. While it was painful to get the very large estimate for how much foundation work we needed to have done (hand excavating trenches because of how fragile our foundation was, waterproofing it because it had never been waterproofed, reinforcing with concrete, repointing the foundation, rebuilding part of the foundation), it was worth every single penny. We never felt like we were being exploited or scammed because Jonathan is the most communicative, transparent, and responsive tradesperson we have ever worked with. He always showed us what the problem was to explain what the fix needed to be, and responded quickly and patiently to every single question that we had (and we had a lot, both big and small!).To work with Jonathan and his team is to be in trustworthy hands. And the work they do is impeccable (and they work extraordinarily efficiently)! Mauricio and his coworkers were punctual, respectful of our space, and left our basement and the spaces they were operating in cleaner than before we started the work. I can't recommend StoneBase enough! While we won't have to have foundation work done in the future because they've set us up for life, we will certainly be turning to them for future masonry needs because of how responsive, thorough, and conscientious they are, and how high the standards they hold themselves to are.
Jonathan and his team were incredible. We hired StoneBase for a relatively straightforward foundation job, and they discovered after digging down that we had major issues. They immediately mobilized and kept working for 10 days straight (after expecting to be done in ~3), working long hours and moving as fast as possible. Jonathan was there every step with excellent communication, showing clear concern for our needs and for getting the job done properly and efficiently. He even came back to help us out with a task that was outside the initial scope of work. THANK YOU GUYS - you were amazing!!! (I've been meaning to write this review for months, sorry for the delay) 11/10 would hire again
