I will update this review after a year. We had a tiny bit of water come into the basement. Had stratum come out to install a sump pump with drain system in the corner of the basement water was coming from. When they were out and dug the hole for the drainage they told us the bad news that our house footing was separating from the house, We had to also get 3 piers installed it more than doubled the cost of the project. We are in St Charles county and they didn't get a county inspection which is needed for piers. They made it right however and had the county come out and inspect the work through photos they had taken luckily without re digging anything. I believe they did a good job and made sure I was happy with the work. I have no idea if over 12 grand for this kind of work was a good deal but I am happy they found the problem before it could become a bigger problem later.

This was better than I had ever expected.
We live in a 100 year plus older home and have a basement that has only had small leaks in the 48 years we have lived here. It was a nuisance we always wanted to address. We contacted Stratum and received a quick response and met with Keven Welch for an estimate. Very knowledgeable and responsive to all our concerns and needs. He promptly sent us an estimate that was much less than we had expected to pay for the installation of a sump pump and drainage system. I got other estimates and none were even close to his estimate, so we contracted with Stratum to do the work.
The three young men that showed up for the install were all that you would hope for when having work done on your house. They were respectful of our property, they were courteous and hardworking, and their workmanshsip was exceptional. They kept us informed of each step as they performed their tasks and did an unbelievable clean up when they completed the installation.
If you are looking for waterproofing for your basement, I would recommend that you give Stratum a call, I don't think you can find a better price or workmanship.
Thank you to all of the personnel we dealt with at Stratum, and for taking care of our home.

I highly recommend Stratum Structural Systems. Matt Whitman came out and looked over everything and then explained in detail what they would do to stabilize my garage wall. Cody and his crew did a great job. Everyone was very professional, friendly, and kept me informed as to what they were doing and how things were going. Being a widow, I especially appreciated Matt’s reassurance through out the project and his detail explanations and his patience with me. Stratum is a great company to work with and I’ll say it again. I highly recommend them.

Our basement has slightly flooded since I purchased the house four years ago, as water pours in through the poured concrete walls and it’s left a huge impact on our stress due to our new furnace/water heater flooding/getting wet. We received quotes from numerous companies but always felt stuck due to pushy sales tactics. I found referrals for Statrum on a local Reddit post and after a review by salesman Matt Wittman, we decided to go with Stratum due to their lack of pushy sales, reasonable quote, and overall he seemed reliable, educated, and honest.

It took three days to complete the project, which was led by Keith and his crew. Keith is by far the best contractor we have ever worked with. He was honest, respectful, went above and beyond, and managed a crew who also were also very respectful and hard-working. Overall, we are extremely satisfied with the work. We had the basement drainage system and sump pump installed and I can say, for the first time in 4 years, I am actually looking forward to it raining (without the stress of a basement flood).

Not to mention a limited warranty on the sump but lifetime warranty on the remainder… we feel extremely fortunate to have come across Stratum on some local Reddit posts which gave them rave reviews, which now I see why. 11/10 would recommend, esp with work completed by Keith and his crew. Thank you all so much. We appreciate you.

I highly recommend working with Matt W. at Stratum!! I bought my first out of state property to flip in St Louis. I knew it needed waterproofing work from the beginning. Sadly, I did not know my contractor (Castillo Contracting) was inexperienced in this type of work until I closed on the property and was left to deal with a leaking basement about a month after it went on the market. Luckily I contacted Stratum and was connected with Matt. He went out of his way to help me find the right solution, feel confident in the decision and keep me apprised during and after the work was completed. I can admittedly say that I was a bit high maintenance. I had a LOT of questions, asked him to revise his bid a few times and also consider adding exterior work for my peace of mind to ensure we were tackling from all angles in the most cost effective way. He made multiple trips to the property, patiently answered all my questions and did not push additional work. He also had a trade recommendation for some minor electrical work that needed to be done. It's been a few weeks since the project was completed and there has been a lot of rain, yet the basement is still dry!

Frequently Asked Questions

Solutions typically include interior drainage channels, sump pump systems, and crack injection or sealing. The recommended method depends on where water enters, foundation type, and site grading. Each proposal outlines the scope, materials, and expected outcomes. A consultation helps determine the most effective combination.

An on-site evaluation looks for settlement, cracking patterns, and wall movement, along with soil and drainage conditions. If signs of structural movement are present, options like piers or reinforcement may be discussed. The estimator explains findings and why a specific remedy is recommended. You’ll receive a written scope and pricing before work begins.

Interior drainage installations require access along the perimeter, which can involve cutting and replacing sections of slab and trim. The team aims to protect adjacent finishes and clean the work area daily. Your estimator will review what areas must be opened and how they will be restored. Any special concerns can be addressed in the plan.

Pumps benefit from periodic testing, clearing debris from the pit, and verifying discharge lines remain unobstructed. Many homeowners test the pump seasonally and after major storms. Ask about backup options to maintain operation during power outages. Maintenance guidance is typically provided at project closeout.

Availability varies by season, but initial visits are often scheduled within business hours listed on the website. During heavy rain periods, lead times may be longer. Calling the office is the quickest way to review scheduling options. You will receive written findings and pricing after the visit.
