They do not back up their work, which is unethical. Cross your fingers that it is done right the first time or he will try to charge you more to fix it. I hired Mr. Cordova for a front porch extension. The project finish product is very nice, however, the slight slope grade we discussed (for water to run away from the door) did not get done right. When it rains, I get a puddle of water in the center of the concrete porch. I asked Mr. Cordova to fix it. He continues to tell me there is nothing he can do about it unless I pay to have the concrete removed and redone. I reminded him we discussed the slope will be done to avoid that, but he continues to respond like this is not his problem but mine instead, and it will cost me to fix it. That is very unethical. Get a written warranty clause before you hire him.
I highly recommend Dan and the team at D. Cordova Construction. We have worked on a handful of projects together, and Dan has went out of his way to ensure a successful completion of the project, as well as ensuring great communication all of the way through. Outside of projects that Dan has done for us, he has also been a very helpful resource and given his time to help us strategize other projects even if he did not actually perform the work. Dan has been one of the best contractors that I have worked with so far in the Mesilla Valley. As I am representing a residential General Contractor myself, the type of communication, support and professionalism Dan has exemplified can not be overstated. I have used D. Cordova Construction for several large and small projects here at the Telshor Apartments. Working with Dan and his crews is never anything less than easy. They are responsive, hard working, honest and their professionalism is outstanding. He and his crews recently did a complete rebuild on a unit due to extreme fire damage. The apartment is finished and absolutely beautiful. They did a wonderful job and I will be keeping them at the top of my Contractor list.
