Customers consistently mention thorough inspections before quoting and clear explanations of what needs to be fixed. Many reviews highlight chimney work—especially tuckpointing, cap sealing, and full or partial rebuilds—with results that hold up through storms. Reviewers also note good cleanup and care taken to protect roofs and siding. Pricing is described as fair and within the mid-range of estimates.

matt and his crew did the tuckpointing on the front and one side of our house plus some chimney work. price was fair, not the lowest quote but not the highest either, and the guy who came out to bid actually got on a ladder and looked at things instead of standing in the driveway pointing. work itself took about 4 days. they grind out the old mortar way deeper than i was expecting, said thats how its supposed to be done so water doesnt sit in shallow joints. mortar color match is good, you can tell where they worked if youre looking for it up close but from the sidewalk it just looks like a clean wall. chimney cap got replaced too since the old one was rusted thru. only minor thing was some mortar dust on the patio but they hosed it off before leaving

Our brick chimney had cracked mortar joints running up both sides and water was getting in during heavy rain. We started seeing staining on the ceiling near the fireplace, which is what finally pushed us to deal with it. Matt's crew came out, assessed the damage, and did a full tuckpointing job on the chimney. They also sealed around the cap. It's been through a few storms since the work was done and zero leaking so far.

Armani Wilson on Matt's Masonry Contractors

Matt’s handled a chimney rebuild for us- the old one had cracks and some loose bricks near the cap. They took it down to where it was still structurally sound and rebuilt from there. The new brickwork blends in well with the rest of the house, which was something I was worried about. Drove past a place over in Lisle recently with a similar looking chimney and wondered if it was their work too.

We bought our place in Naperville about eleven years ago and the chimney was always kind of rough looking but functional so we ignored it. Last fall during a storm a chunk of mortar landed on our back deck and scared the crap out of us so that was the wake up call. Matt's came and did a full chimney rebuild from the roofline up. What surprised me is how much brick they had to remove before they got to anything solid, like the top eight courses were basically decorative at that point held together by paint and prayers. the new chimney has a proper crown cap with a flashing detail that ties into the roof shingles way better than the original ever did. They used a slightly different brick but placed it on the back side where you cant see it from the street which i appreciated them thinking about.
