Customer feedback is mixed. Positive reviews highlight clear communication with the owner on site, clean workmanship, and projects finished on schedule. Critical reviews describe pricing disputes, difficulty reaching the company after completion, and concerns about sealing/finish follow-up. Responsiveness and clarity on change orders appear to be recurring themes.

If you value honesty and transparent pricing, avoid this company.
Bait-and-switch pricing is exactly what this felt like.

Company: JerseyWide Masonry & Construction (East Brunswick, NJ)

I am posting this review on behalf of my Aunt Sandy (Cranford, NJ) because what happened to her should be publicly documented for every potential customer to see. Anyone with even the smallest moral bone in their body would never treat a customer this way — especially in the age of social media, where unethical behavior doesn’t stay hidden.

This is not a “miscommunication.” This is not a “simple change order.” This was a shocking price escalation after demolition began, followed by empty promises and a request to remove an honest review — and then silence.

• May 2025: Shawn (who told her he was the owner John Walsh’s son) quoted $1,800 to repair her front steps. He is charming, has a Scottish accent, and presents himself as trustworthy — which made this experience even more infuriating in hindsight.

• Day of demolition (May 2025): After his crew broke apart the steps, Shawn called while she was at work and suddenly said the job was now $14,000. That is not an adjustment. That is a completely different job price — delivered after the work site was already torn apart. She immediately told him to STOP.

• One week later: She had the work completed by someone else for $3,000.

• August 2025: An honest review was posted describing what happened.

• October 8, 2025: John Walsh (the owner) reached out, apologized, and said Shawn was no longer working in sales. He offered to “make it right” and said future work would be done “at cost.” She mentioned a brick walkway she wanted redone, and he said he would come on October 11, 2025 to look at it.

Then John asked her to delete the original review.

Against her better judgment — and in good faith — she deleted it.

• October 11, 2025: John never showed up. He has not returned calls or texts since.

So here is the reality: she was hit with an outrageous price increase only after demolition began, and then persuaded to remove an honest review based on promises that were not kept. That sequence of events is not merely disappointing — it’s ethically bankrupt.

She feels embarrassed that she trusted them — but this is being posted so others don’t get burned.

To anyone considering JerseyWide Masonry & Construction: learn from this experience. Don’t be disarmed by charm or apologies. Based on what happened here, this company cannot be trusted to operate with transparency or basic integrity. She would never recommend them — not even to her worst enemy.

This review is being reposted because it was removed only after the owner requested it and promised follow-through… and then promptly disappeared. That alone tells you everything you need to know.

In business, reputation is earned through conduct. This conduct was predatory and disgraceful. If this is how customers are treated when they are most vulnerable (mid-demolition), the public deserves to know before anyone else hands over their home and trust.

Initially, the job was great. Within a few weeks, the finishing was very cloudy and after multiple attempts to get in touch with Jerseywide, someone did come to power wash the extra layers of sealant off No one has since returned to reseal and my whole entryway is colored half sealed, half unsealed I have tried reaching out via text message, voicemail, and email and every time I call it goes straight to voicemail We spent a lot of money and did not hesitate to make payment at the balance of what John had given us and now that the job is over and all that money is gone no one returns my call. They also got a job down the block for me because they liked how my entryway looked and they are also having the same problem and crickets. No response no return call no email no text message very unprofessional and I am absolutely disgusted with how this has turned out.

John and his crew did an amazing job restain and seal our stamped concrete that was neglected by the previous owner. It looks brand new! The crew was very efficient, tidy and hard working. It was a big job and they took great care of restoring our yard and entry way. Very happy with our results. 1st pic is before

The Grinch I hate Christmas on JerseyWide Masonry & Construction

Jersey Wide is a predatory company that exploits seniors with deceptive practices. They quoted my parents $400 for a repair of their steps, but after removing their steps, they raised the price to $1,600. Shockingly, they then demanded $16,000 instead of what my parents were quoted! This bait-and-switch scam left my mother feeling cheated and helpless. Their lack of transparency and aggressive upselling are unacceptable, especially targeting vulnerable elderly customers. Avoid Jersey Wide at all costs—choose a trustworthy company instead to save yourself from their unethical tactics. They even reused the handrails. I would rate them a zero if I could. I am editing my review because you claim this post is a fake review. I am updating my review because you claim that this post is a fake review. Please issue a refund; if you do not, I will provide the address and receipt for this job. The work completed does not equate to a $16,000 value, and I will report you to the Better Business Bureau, if this is not done.

John and his crew did a wonderful job! John responded promptly to all my calls and inquiries. He was present while the patio, retaining walls and sidewalk were done as well as re-pointing our steps and ensured a great job. I would highly recommend using him. His work is high quality and at a good and reasonable price. And he finished sooner than estimated!

Jersey wide masonry & construction did work in my neighborhood. They did a great job. The work was clean and high quality. If there was an issue, John personally addressed them. He reviewed the issues and he had his team take care of them. I had them install a new paver walkway and replaced my asphalt driveway. The walkway slope was graded properly with easy transition to our stairs and the drive way is very smooth. The edges are clean against the apron of the garage and side walk. They also addressed the transition from the road to my apron. They cut 9 inch section of the road, removed the old asphalt and replaced it with new sloped asphalt so my cars no longer hit the bottom of the transition. It's like driving on glass. They do nice work.
