I NEEDED HELP!
My wooden gates had termites and the stones on my retaining wall were beginning to fall off. I needed to clean up the appearance of my backyard. So, after calling a few masonry contractors and a few who could replace my wooden gates with iron ones, I found Bob Maciel of Maciel Masonry, who’s company could do both. Also, his estimate was reasonable.
First, let me say, I was very impressed with his knowledge, professionalism and communication skills he must have to decipher my needs, wants and the aesthetics I was looking for. Bob gave me choices of color and texture for my new gates. He let me know when the work would be done and called me with updates on the progress.
Secondly, was my retaining wall with stones that had fallen away from the cinder blocks. That was especially challenging, because he had no extra stones. He had to figure it out like a puzzle. This man’s attention to detail and quality of work made me a believer in a man of his word. I can’t say enough about his masonry ability, experience, skills and artistry.
Lastly, Bob’s timeliness was only outdone by his work ethic and quality of the finished product. I am so pleased! I have already recommended him to family and friends. I would absolutely hire Bob Maciel and his company, Maciel Masonry, again.

Mr. Maciel is a great business owner, his quote was competitive, he was always on time, he truly has passion for his work, his family and cares about his customers! Our wall needed to be repaired after a neighbor crashed into it, he was patient with us while waiting on the insurance company and as promised, as soon as we were ready he saw to it that the job was done in a timely manner. In addition to that, we called him two separate times regarding an issue with our sprinklers that we thought might have been due to the work done. He came out both times to take a look and fixed the problem even though it wasn't his responsibility. Mr. Maciel is a man of respect and integrity! As many people that live in and around La Verne know, there was a terrible accident that happened in May 2022 that ruined our back retaining wall and part of our backyard.
Bob Maciel came out to my house as promised, and worked perfectly with my insurance company. Their work is neat and timely.
I chose Maciel Masonry because of their excellent and creative workmanship as well strong ethical values and reputation.
We are really looking forward to the finished product!

As a follow-up to my earlier review, Maciel Masonry did a great job when it comes to Masonry, however, the wrought iron work leaves much to be desired. It's borderline awful, The Wrought Iron work itself is shotty and bent with poor spacing in spots with incomplete welds. I would recommend Maciel Masonry for Masonry work, but would look elsewhere for the wrought iron work.
As the pictures below-show, they cracked the wall while installing it and now the Cinder block is split and falling apart. I have contacted Maciel Masonry and asked him if he would accept that type of work at his house, "a question I asked him over a month ago" These pictures are the same pictures I sent to Bob Maciel, I have not heard back.

There are many more items I could show, but I just took pictures of the very obvious stuff!
I would more than likely refer Maciel Masonry for Masonry work only!!!!
We are happy with the block retaining wall and the pavers. I am looking into replacing the wrought iron work, as it lacks the professional look I was expecting based on Mr. Maciel's presentation. I doesn't meet our expectations, and we don't think it would meet yours.
