Martin and his team at Forde Masonry performed in depth repair work on our 100 year old Georgian colonial, including lintel replacements and full repointing on one side where we suspected water was getting in. Bricks around the windows were carefully removed and put back in the same decorative layout after rusted lintels were dug out and replaced with new stainless steel angle irons. They also repaired, repointed and replaced where necessary bricks on our window wells and front steps, including replacement of several bluestone treads. The process was seamless from beginning to end. Communication was excellent throughout, Martin is very responsive, attentive to detail and professional. They setup scaffolding and worked straight until the job was finished (one week), left the worksite clean and neat every day. As promised, mortar color and repair bricks match the original, it was all waterproofed and looks BEAUTIFUL!!
Forde Masonry came highly recommended to us by the engineering firm, SGH, for structural reconstruction masonry work on our six unit back bay brownstone. The scope of work was modest in scale – across 4 units interior and exterior – rebuild of several load bearing walls, repair of window arches with steel lintels, stitching of cracked masonry, installation of steel retention plates, and full rebuild of a parapet wall. Forde exceeded our expectations with their professionalism and workmanship. Throughout the project, Martin and Carolina were great at communicating each step of the project and reviewing what was completed with a focus on the budget and timeline. Through these discussions, we were impressed by their technical expertise, skilled workmanship and attention to detail. They were also incredibly easy to work with and took the lead in collaborating with other contractors as well. They went above and beyond and were committed to delivering on the project at a high level while also at a reasonable price. Simply put, they have earned our full trust and we highly recommend them without reservation.
Forde Masonry helped me finally complete a project I’ve been putting off for years. They recently rebuilt a whole leaning chimney, the top of a second chimney, and repointed a large brick wall of my 1910 home. The work looks decent and I expect it will also pass the test of time with regard to mortar composition which I’ve come to learn is important for buildings this old. Martin is responsive and answered all the questions I knew to ask. The quote was reasonable for this era. Hope to complete a few more projects with their help.
