I hired this company in September 2025 to install a residential concrete sidewalk at my home for $2,500.

Shortly after installation, I observed several issues, including surface staining at both ends, raised arch-shaped patterns in multiple sections, and a visible leaf imprint in one panel. More importantly, after rainfall and snowmelt, water consistently pools and remains on multiple sections of the sidewalk rather than draining.

I raised these concerns in writing beginning in early December 2025 and continued to follow up over the following months, including providing photographs once weather conditions allowed. The contractor visited the property and reviewed the conditions.

Throughout this process, I was told that there was “nothing wrong” with the sidewalk and that the conditions were normal. The water pooling was attributed to the type of sealer used and standard concrete characteristics. The only remedy offered was a possible additional coat of sealer at a later date.

Because the standing water persists after normal weather conditions, I remain concerned about the pitch and overall finish of the sidewalk. I requested a partial refund as a good-faith resolution, but that request was declined.

I am sharing this experience so that others can make an informed decision.

We do NOT recommend Michael McConnell Concrete. After continued emails with pictures of issues and our dissatisfaction with the job, Still nobody has shown up to look at and address their poor workmanship, messy joints, Ruined brand new coping around pool and many cracks a month later! Horrible and lack of customer service!
Should add he also lies after that reply. Here once for estimate once to pick up check when tape will still on coping and stakes and frames still on and waz raining He was NEVER back after our complaints!!

Shane and his team did a large patio and walkway for us two summers ago. There was no pressure from him when he wrote up the estimate. We had questions and he took the time to give us answers and the reasons behind his answers. He was always in touch with us about when his crew would be there, how long the process would be, etc. They ended up doing our patio and walkway as well as more work for two of my neighbors. His crew was on time, worked hard and did a great job. We are unbelievably happy with our patio and walkway. We just washed our patio and walkway and Shane came out to seal it for us again. It looks great and we look forward to enjoying it for years to come. If you are looking for a quality concrete work, Shane at Michael McConnell Concrete should be your call.

Excellent company to work with and highly recommend ! I hired them to redo another contractors poor work and was so pleased with the results . They are professional , on time , easy to work with and clearly know what they are doing . The photo does not do justice to how much it better it looks now .( I should have taken a before picture ) . Shane , Ryan and all the crew kept me informed all the way and went above and beyond my expectations .

I wish I had read the French drain reviews prior to hiring this company & forking over $6500 for a drainage/sump pump installation in my basement. Drainage system worked fine for 11 months and then failed. Two months after concrete was poured along perimeter of basement-hairline fractures formed- 5 months later cracks and heaving in many parts of system. Moisture on area surface of basement. Sump pump barely going off (despite dry summer- pump goes off 3-4x/day). Hired a different company to run a camera along interior drainage system AND TWO BLOCKAGES noted. One side of system was crushed and blocked on other side. Ryan (installer) was all set to proceed with a plan to fix. Father, Michael, got involved. BOTTOM LINE: TOLD ME I’VE GOT NO PROBLEM WITH THE DRAINAGE AND HE WASN’T GOING TO LOOK AT ANY PICTURES. He punctured over 15 holes in pump for drainage and water enters the pump at numerous holes and not the two pipes intended for drainage. Told me to hire a lawyer, he’d see me in court and TAKE MY MONEY. And he was done talking about my drainage system. PRESENT DAY: I’ve had to hire another company to repair his faulty work and YES I DO HAVE OBSTRUCTIONS/BLOCKAGES in his drainage system. SAVE YOUR MONEY & go elsewhere- he will NOT honor his LIFETIME WARRANTY and will treat you rudely.
