A recent critical review cites an EV outlet issue post-install, indicating mixed experiences on after-service support.
I had work done by Pacific Star Electric to install a NEMA 14-50 plug in my garage for an EV Charger. It's been 2 years since that install and Tuesday morning I woke to the outlet melted out completely and the inside burned out to the point of failure with the charger plug fused to the receptacle. This is not a wear and tear issue, but coming from the inside of the box due to a loose connection during install.Upon contacting them, they were courteous and polite when telling me I am out of luck and offered full price for a replacement as it was "done to code and inspected".I am not the type to complain, it's a shame that I have to post this, but given the circumstances, it seems worth sharing.**Edit after reply. **Note - that this review is as much about customer service as it is a fault with my installation. There was no offer to help remedy the problem, only an offer full rate new install. As I feel their response to this review mischaracterizes their response to me, the following is the exact response I was given. Also note that it was not a phone conversation, it was a response in email.-- Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are sorry to hear this happened.-- We definitely recommend that we hardwire your new device rather than use the receptacle location.-- Our warranty period has expired, for this work and you will be looking at our service call rate for our return.-- The charge will be $225 for the first hour followed by $120 each additional hour and roughly looking at $50 in material if we cannot reuse any of the wiring.-- Do you have the new device on site? I can schedule an electrician to come by tomorrow, Friday February 13th if that works for you.I requested to be reimbursed for the previous work, and while I didn't say as much, I would have accepted less even just a slight discount, or even full price if literally any attempt would have been made at support.I was told:-- We will not be reimbursing you for the work or the device. Our work was completed to code and inspected by the city.I am leaving it up to the reader to decide if that's acceptable to them. It's not acceptable to me.
We recently hired Pacific Star to install a new ceiling fan/light and once again they have impressed with their quality service and competitive pricing. David did a great job, very efficient and meticulous. This is the second time we have had Pacific Star in our home and I would highly recommend them.
I have hired this company on multiple occasions. My plugs always seem to stop working. Within a few hours they are there to fix them. Maxwell is amazing and has the best personality. From the moment he arrived he had a smile on his face and did the job fast and efficient. They are definetly my first call when I have electrical problems.
Based on reviews and their reasonable quote, I hired Pacific Star Electric a few years ago to upgrade our electrical panel to a 200 amp service and to install a disconnect box for centra air conditioning. Their electricians were friendly, knowledgable, efficient and tidy and their work passed municipal electrical inspections without any issues. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Pacific Star again or to recommend them.
Really pleased with the 5-star work done by Andrew! He was professional, courteous, friendly, and did great quality work. Took the time to explain everything that was being done in clear terms and the work was done very cleanly. While the reception/office staff was friendly, I'm not as pleased with their responsiveness. After having someone come out to do an initial quote, I had to call several times to get the actual written quote sent to me, as I couldn't book an appointment until I'd received it. I was also told the permits and receipt would be sent to me by the office via email after the work was complete, and I still have yet to receive them. That said, I would likely still use Pacific Star again as their electricians are fantastic, which is what I am really looking for. I'd just like to make fewer calls to their office for paperwork!
