We ordered purchase and installation of a home standby generator theough My Home Solutions at a price of over $10,000. Unfortunately, the folks sent to do the project had no experience or understanding of this particular system and a two day job has stretched out to over four months, and it still does not work. The first day, they installed the generator and transfer switch, figured the job was done and were about to leave when I reminded them that batteries were required to start the engine and that there was no oil in the crankcase. This was addressed, the motor started and again they thought they were done. I called the office when nothing worked, and found that the transfer switch had been installed on the wrong side of the house with no breakers in it. This was corrected the next day (leaving unrepaired holes in the stucco) and once again they figured they were done, but nothing worked. The factory informed them that a separate control circuit had not been installed, so this was added when the parts arrived. One connection was loose and we had to power our freezer for several days with a long extension cord. The generator now works if we are home and manually turn it on, but it is not automatic and cannot be left on the setting which allows this because the motor would run continuously. Packing materials and pallets from shipping were left in the yard for us to deal with and not removed until we complained to the Registrar of Contractors. After our repeated complaints that the system did not work as designed, they lied and said the factory reported that everything was OK. When the ROC forced them to return and troubleshoot, the factory reported that there had indeed been a problem with a part and they were sending a replacement. My home solutions is pretty angry about my reviews and now refuses to finish the job.
