Jim did the electrical for a fireplace/built-in cabinet project. He installed new LED overhead lights and fan in the vaulted ceiling, changed out all the outlets and put in custom cabinet lighting which came out amazing. Jim's communication was immediate and continuous, always keeping me updated to the next steps of the project. He always showed up on time and was professional. You can't go wrong hiring Jim for any of your electrical needs!

We were looking to install an electric fireplace and had three electricians look at the work to be done.

They were all qualified electricians but Jim De Olivera was a step above the others. Jim was recommended to us by Hearth Works Fireplace Center (Mike) in North Reading.

Jim was excellent, professional, punctual with follow up skills and respectful of our home. The work was meticulously done, no dust, no drama. Jim and his associate Austin were excellent and I will continue to utilize him when necessary.

Long story short: My best experience with any electrician has been with Jim of JDO Electric.

On Saturday, July 5th of the holiday weekend, my home’s electrical system started to fail. Some outlets worked, others were completely out, and a few flickered on and off—creating a strange and somewhat frightening situation that needed immediate attention. I reached out to several electricians I’ve used in the past. Only Jim returned my call—within an hour of me leaving a voicemail.

After I explained the issue, he quickly put me at ease. He said there didn’t seem to be an imminent threat to the house and promised to come by within the hour.

Upon arrival, he diagnosed the problem and explained what was causing it. Jim was able to provide temporary relief by restoring most of the 110v service. It turned out that the electrical load in the house had become too much after we installed a central AC system and an EV charger in the garage.

Jim recommended upgrading to a 200-amp service. This involved not only replacing the entire electrical panel but also extensive rewiring—inside the house, at the meter, and the connection to the utility pole.

Throughout the process, Jim and his assistant Austin were excellent at keeping us informed about what they were doing and why. Their clear communication reassured us that everything was moving along smoothly. They worked diligently and professionally, kept the work areas clean, and were respectful of the fact that we were working from home. Even with the outdoor work requiring them to endure extreme heat, they pressed on and got the job done.

The entire upgrade took about a week and a half, and we couldn’t be more satisfied with both the process and the final result. I wholeheartedly recommend JDO Electric to anyone looking for a competent, experienced, professional, and reliable electrician.

Jim and his co-worker at JDO did a great job with my electrical work. I wanted to bring my condo unit up to code and requested: (1) GFCI receptacle and breaker installation in kitchen and bathrooms (2) Dryer 4-prong receptacle, (3) removal of jerry-rigged receptacle. As a layman, I really appreciated the in-depth explanation and time provided to help me understand the scope of work and options to compromise cost and expediency. Additionally, he cleaned up any shavings left on the floor and secured the dryer plug receptacle better than it was before. He didn't have to do that, but as new owners, we really appreciate the extra effort. We hope to us JDO electric again in the future.

Working with Jim was splendid. He was very responsive and came out immediately. He scheduled to do the work immediately, since it was a fireplace insert and other contractors would follow. He pulled the permit and pointed out some other things that would raise issues with the town inspector.

On the day of the job, our carpets and finished areas were protected, he documented everything for the inspector and left the house clean.

His price was very reasonable. I'll be going back to Jim for other electrical work.
