Buyer beware!! We hired Universal Wood Floors to refinish a section of our hardwood floor that had been damaged . It had to be sanded as there was a bad finish on it. Raul explained that he wouldn’t be able to match exactly but would try his best to get the colors close - we understood this as we’ve been in the house 24 years and had other repairs done. The day of the job I discussed again about matching the color and even pointed out the last area we had done and how it was originally a little lighter but darkened up over time. Halfway through the job my husband questioned Rail as to why the floor was a natural color and he responded there was an additional coat to be applied so my husband assumed it was the color. Nope - they refinished my cherry oak floor to natural after waiting almost 3 months to come out. Fast forward another month - he sends his guys out and they mess around for almost 2 hours trying to put stain on the finished floor without first sanding it! Told his guys to sand my floor then demanded I pay him more money before he would finish when his guys never brought the right color. Then tries to justify making my floor a natural color that he didn’t charge me for stain. Totally dishonest business practices. All his reviews are years old so maybe his company was good at one time! Update- hired a professional wood floor company who took the time to explain the difference between an oil and water based polyurethane. Our floor has an oil based finish creating the color - Raul should’ve known the water based ( which is quicker and easier to apply) would give the natural finish!!! Make sure you educate yourself before using this company.
This past October I retained Universal Wood Floors Corp to repair and polish the floors in my home built in 1938. The result was spectacular. Owner and staff were excellent communicating my options, keeping to schedule, and making sure I was satisfied throughout the process. Plus their no dust vaccum system was a relief! I recommend them highly. The owners and staff were professional, courteous and very efficient with the work throughout the entire process.

I have used Universal twice and each time has been an excellent experience, with the floors coming out perfectly. Raul and his team are true professionals. They are meticulous, careful, respectful and efficient. If you are looking for wood floors, do not settle for less. They will make sure that your floors are perfect. They also did some moldings for us that came out beautifully. It is difficult finding good help in Miami, so finding Universal was truly a blessing.
