We installed around 2000 square feet of beetle kill tongue and groove from sustainable lumber in our new barndo. Their customer service was great answering any questions we had as we were getting ready to order and it turned out amazing! My wife and I installed all of this ourselves over several weekends and the quality and consistency of their products made instillation a breeze! I would highly recommend and hope to try more of their products in the future!
We were very pleased with Sustainable Lumber's customer service, shipping and most of all product including instructions. We did not have much waste as the boards fit together perfectly. We used Beetle killed blue pine for one wall of a 3 season porch where the house siding was removed. We took our time deciding which board to put up next to get the best flow of colors. A good saw blade and a nail gun let these DIYers get a fine result. We used most of the minimum order and will have enough left to panel a bathroom.
I purchased 415 SF of beetle-kill pine planks to transform my basement ceiling, and it is absolutely STUNNING! This is by far the easiest T&G product I’ve worked with—installation was a breeze. I budgeted for 10% waste but ended up with all of it leftover because the product was so easy to install, we barely had any waste at all. With the extra planks, I got creative and filled my open stairwell, and HOLY MOLY—what a focal point! I am completely OBSESSED. If you’re considering this product, I highly recommend ordering a little extra so you can take on a fun, unexpected project. Couldn’t be happier!"
We were interested in beetle kill wood because we wanted to make the fourth wall of a sun room as interesting as the other three glass-sided walls. We also wondered if beetle kill accent on a stairwell wall would bring attention to a wrought iron sculpture that no one ever noticed. And because the minimum order with Sustainable Lumber is 200 square-foot, we purchased a few more boards and accented the wall in our grandchildren’s bedroom. We opted to purchase from Sustainable Lumber because big box and local lumber retailers were selling a beetle kill product that had every appearance of an even lower quality grade than beetle kill’s #3 grading. We were also interested in purchasing a prefinished product. What we received from Sustainable Lumber was a carefully packaged, high quality wood product that was a significantly better grade than some “select” lumber I have purchased from the big box stores. Each board is planed on both sides and all four edges are tongue and grooved; which allowed for perfect randomness as the ends of the board do not need to land on a nailing surface. The finish is a smooth, soft sheen which could never be achieved with unfinished wood unless one were willing to sand and spray the finished wall. The boards were dry and dimensionally stable. The waste was surprisingly minimal – I only discarded three boards from a 200+ square-foot order.Everything about our purchase from Sustainable Lumber was pure satisfaction: Particularly the results!
We worked with Karen at Sustainable Lumber to create a large two story ceiling and master bedroom ceiling using Beetle Kill Pine.We couldn’t be happier with the attention and cooperation we received from sustainable lumber, but even more amazed by how it turned out! We would recommend them without hesitation! Here are some photos:
