I recently purchased flooring for our entire main level (hardwood in the living areas and luxury vinyl plank in the kitchen and bathrooms) from The Flooring Outlet in Lenexa, and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.
Debbie was my sales rep, and she was fantastic from start to finish. She listened carefully to what we wanted—something durable and pet-friendly but still good-looking and in our budget—and showed us a bunch of options without ever pushing us toward the most expensive stuff. She was super knowledgeable about the differences between products, helped us narrow it down quickly, and even pulled up some discontinued/overrun deals that saved us a significant amount compared to other places we’d looked at.
The prices were already very competitive (they really do focus on those in-stock specials and overruns), but Debbie made sure we got the absolute best value possible. She was patient when we changed our minds a couple times, followed up promptly on quotes and samples, and made the whole process stress-free.
Installation went smoothly too (we used one of their recommended installers), and the final result looks beautiful. The store itself has a huge selection for being an outlet—lots of remnants and rolls if you’re doing smaller projects—and the staff overall was friendly and helpful.
If you’re in the KC area looking for quality flooring at real savings, I highly recommend stopping by The Flooring Outlet and asking for Debbie. She made what could have been an overwhelming decision feel easy and enjoyable. Will definitely return for future projects!

After a very disappointing failed launch that was nearly 4 months in the making by the big box store with the blue sign, we cancelled a whole-house flooring re-do project with them in late April. We live in mid-Missouri so didn't originally consider KC sources of materials and labor. Upon hearing of our woes, my brother, a property manager in KC directed me to Flooring Outlet and Joe Weber. What a great experience in finding immediately available, top-end materials at excellent prices, combined with wonderful customer service by Joe and his staff. My brother also contacted his long-time go-to installer Majin Urquiza owner of Floor Covering KC LLC. Majin, an installer well known at Flooring Outlet, had the flexibility to schedule our project the next week which was fantastic, as our entire main floor had been cleared for the original failed install. Majin is a master of his craft and the install of 1800 sf. of carpet and almost 500 sf. of LVT turned out absolutely beautiful!
So, we went from a Thursday morning "sorry we're not coming and your carpet we've had for seven weeks is defective" call from the "blue" installers only fifteen minutes before the end of their schedule arrival timeslot (which led to our cancellation immediately thereafter), to the completion of our project by the end of the day the following Thursday thanks to Joe, Majin and their employees! I don't know that I've added much to the Google review rating for these businesses since they are already at five stars, but I couldn't let such a great performance go unrecognized. Many, many thanks to Joe and Majin!!
PS - we thought having the big-box store handling more of the "footwork" and using their nationwide buying power would make the project easier and less expensive. Hardly! Repeated delays and issues leading to the cancellation and then finding out when our project was completed, that we saved thousands with the new scenario, was a huge eye-opener.
