My Response to Sawgrass Floors’ Reply:I waited over a year to leave my review because I genuinely wanted to give Sawgrass Floors, and specifically John, every opportunity to stand behind their work and make things right. Unfortunately, my experience only got worse after the review was posted.Once the review went live, John finally responded and came to my home. He acknowledged the issues, agreed to remake the defective stair treads, and even took some of the extra flooring materials needed to do so. After that visit—radio silence. No follow-up. No repairs. Ghosted again. In his response, John claims the problems weren’t due to his work. However, a separate, reputable flooring contractor who evaluated the situation clearly explained the real issues:• The flooring was installed too tightly to the walls, which caused the warping.• The stair treads were installed without proper blocking or support behind them, leading to cracking on every step.• Squeaking throughout the flooring is the direct result of poor installation practices. These aren’t opinions—they’re facts confirmed by experienced professionals who do this work the right way. What’s even more disappointing is John’s attempt to shift blame onto the railing installer. The truth is, John and the railing contractor coordinated this project together—they dictated the schedule, the sequence of work, and were fully aware of each other’s involvement throughout. Claiming otherwise now is simply dishonest.I fully understand that issues can arise on any project. But the mark of a good contractor is how they handle problems when they do. In this case, John at Sawgrass Floors repeatedly failed to take accountability or follow through on his promises. That’s why I wrote the review, and that’s why I stand by every word of it.At this point, I’ve been left with no choice but to hire another contractor to make the necessary repairs correctly. I will also be pursuing legal action against Sawgrass Floors to recover the additional expenses required to fix the poor workmanship and complete the job properly. For anyone reading this and considering hiring Sawgrass Floors: do your homework, talk to multiple contractors, and be cautious. I would not recommend them based on my experience.Original Review:We had vinyl flooring installed throughout the second floor of our home and custom vinyl stair treads done by Sawgrass Floors, and unfortunately, the quality of the work has been deeply disappointing. The flooring in my daughter’s room is buckling, and the custom stair treads are cracking due to improper installation. The stairs squeak terribly, and all the mitered corners of the stairs are loose and coming apart.I have been incredibly patient, waiting for over a year for Sawgrass Floors to address and repair these issues. Despite multiple attempts to contact them, they are no longer responding and appear unwilling to stand behind their work. This has been an incredibly frustrating experience, and I regret choosing Sawgrass Floors for this project. I cannot recommend them based on the poor quality of the installation and their complete lack of accountability or customer service.
Thank you to John and the team at Sawgrass floors. My floors before were damaged badly fraying and causing me to get splinters in my feet. John came in took measurements. Set me up for new floors. From the time I went in to look at the floors to working on financing with Bernie it was all a great experience. He gave me an idea of what I’ll be looking at the warranty expectations, etc. There was a hiccup with my floors being uneven, and John and his team fixed it with no problem. My floors are beautiful now thank you for the wonderful service. Pictures enclosed are before, during and after photos
Sawgrass Floors did a great job for us when we needed to re-carpet our office space. We decided on carpet squares with an intricate pattern and they took the time to learn the pattern we wanted and the carpet looks great!
If I could give more that 5 stars, I would! It is my opinion that when you are choosing a company to do work in your most intimate space, you want to absolutely make the right decision. This company was right for me! The owner John takes personal responsibility from start to finish. He, his office staff and installers are professional, reliable and cooperative. They made ever effort to meet all of my needs. It was evident that their mission is “ every customer matters”. I LOVED that. I shared my vision and they offered suggestions until I was able to land on my vision. My floor looks AMAZING and I have received numerous complements. This is an investment that should last and be loved for years. I would highly recommend that Sawgrass Floors be one of the companies that you put in your mix when choosing an installer.
SAWGRASS FLOORS DID NOT USE A SUBFLOOR, WE NOW HAVE 1" GAPS EVERYWHERE. We have spent almost $30,000. We must now remove and replace our floors again. Please see pics and invoices I have included that show the tragic damage our home has suffered. We have 1" gaps under two single interior doors, two double interior doors and three sets of closet doors and all their casings. We had a 1" gap under our custom kitchen cabinets, but he charged us an extra $200 after install for a horrendous wood patch that still has the imprinted blue ink lumberyard stamps. We also have two single exterior doors and two double exterior doors that now have a very high threshold which has caused a trip hazard. We had to pay to have our TV lowered so it would fit into our entertainment center, our kitchen bar is too high, our custom drapes too short. In the pics of our invoices you will see that the original invoice was for 6" baseboards, AFTER the install John said we would need 7" baseboards, and he charged us an extra $420. When he came we showed him the short casings, he said he could replace those for $1,022 which we paid, but his fix was a single layer on the front of the doors leaving the inside with the clearly visible gaps. During that "fix" he put flat colonial casing with beaded colonial, total MISMATCH as shown in pic. When I text him about all our damage due to him not using a subfloor his response was that we didn't want a WOOD subfloor, which is true, but if he knew the floor he was installing needed a subfloor to have the same height he should have offered us an alternative to wood to go along with the waterproof floors we purchased from him. Why would we put a wood subfloor with water proof floors? All this was after a two month delay of the promised Oct 11 installation date after we bought an "in stock" item. So here we are in our retirement years out $25,000 to Sawgrass Floors, we endured a 2 week floor removal and install, paid a cleaning crew $1300 afterwards and we're now faced with having to remove the entire floor and replace it again. Everything I have written is well documented in the invoices and images. I hope this helps other consumers avoid this business. I had to edit my previous review and black out the Sawgrass logo on my invoices because someone reported my review and had it removed. PLEASE READ THE OTHER GOOGLE REVIEW about Sawgrass Floors added by "Vasko family" 4 years ago that says "THEY CLEARLY DID NOT UNDERSTAND THE VARYING HEIGHTS OF THE FLOOR".EDIT below to address owners response. Yes, John you did respond to our review, then somehow the review was reported and removed so we removed your company logo from the invoices and using my husband's Google to let consumers know about your company. Your rebuttal is ridiculous, who would choose to have their home look like this? Why would we want a wood subfloor with the termite risk in south Florida when we bought water proof floors from you? It's clear from the invoice email dates that you discovered the height difference after install and that's when you charged us the difference between 6" and 7" baseboards. We would never refuse a subfloor if we were told there would be a height difference, why would we refuse that? We would have gladly paid for a water proof subfloor had we been told of a height difference. Why would we pay you $25,000 for water proof floors and not want to pay for a waterproof subfloor if we needed it? Makes no sense. We have had several contractors come to assess things and they are all appalled at the damage. One contractor said he has only seen this one other time in his career and he was hired by the flooring company, not the home owner. I suppose the Vasko family who wrote a review about your company that stated "they clearly did not understand the varying heights of the floor" was that their fault too? What about the mismatched door casings you sold us after the install, who's fault is that?
