Recent reviews frequently mention helpful showroom guidance and smooth scheduling from estimate to installation. Many customers praise the installers’ care with furniture and attention to detail. Some reviews note communication gaps between sales notes and subcontracted installers, as well as concerns over costs for transition-piece changes. Overall sentiment trends positive with appreciation for product selection and project follow-through.
My carpet was just installed by Jose and Sergio, and I couldn't be happier with it! Vince and all the salespeople at S&G Roseville were very helpful and considerate. It took me three weeks to decide on the right carpet, settling on one from an area that Vince had shown me the first time there. The installers were very considerate, listening to my concerns and very careful to accommodate me; they are also very strong and moved my very heavy furniture making it look easy. My only complaint was the estimated amount of carpeting; the salesperson finalizing my purchase added more square footage to the estimate, which wasn't needed. I only shopped at S&G for this carpeting because I knew that they had excellent installers (unlike the bozos at some of the big box stores, which I've unfortunately experienced last time).
Initially, we were quite happy with our experience with S&G for new carpet and hardwood. Jessie, our sales person was knowledgeable about the products, provided some creative ideas we hadn't considered and helped with a fire drill near the end of the project. She was excellent. However, we received some transition pieces that clearly did not match the color of the primary hardwood. S&G's manager agreed to accept the return but insisted on charging a 25% restocking fee because the mill that provides the transitions does not guarantee an exact match and the transitions are meant to be complementary, whatever that means. This was an odd explanation as other pieces in the same order matched perfectly. The restocking fee was admittedly a small amount of money, but I would be reluctant to use them for future jobs since neither S&G nor the mill were willing to stand behind the products they sell.
Lack of CommunicationWe previously used S&G Carpet to install laminate flooring in two bedrooms. The product and installation have held up well over the last four years. However, even then, I was disappointed to learn that S&G contracts out its installations and does not use in-house installers. The installer also didn’t receive the notes and details we had discussed with the salesperson, which caused unnecessary frustration. We are now replacing flooring in the rest of our home as well as another building, and we attempted to contact S&G via email. After sending several emails with no response, I emailed Chris directly. It has now been nine days with still no reply.Calling the store is equally frustrating—long wait times, inconsistent information, and no way to share photos or documents needed for an accurate quote. It is amazing that a customer is actively trying to spend money, yet a company such as S&G makes it so difficult to do so.Communication is essential, and S&G has repeatedly failed to provide even basic responsiveness. What makes this more disappointing is that S&G has no issue flooding my inbox with advertising while ignoring actual customers seeking assistance.
I had S&G redo all upstairs and downstairs carpet and then kitchen and all bathrooms got a laminate hard surface.1. Minor issue: The reason we with with S&G is first off they told us they had all in house installers which was a plus however I’m assuming they also deal with 3rd party installers because we had two separate teams for carpet and laminate and both teams said they do not work for S&G. However both teams were great and that’s where the one stars comes from cause it’s not for S&G.2. Major issue: For the kitchen and bathrooms, THE TRIM AND FLOOR PIECES ARE NOT THE SAME BRANDS/COMPANY SO THEY DO NOT MATCH. Does not make sense why it wouldn’t be the same brand/company but the trim has a bad yellow tint to the stone colored floor. So S&G sent a couple gentleman out to see and they said they would get back to us. Took over a month. No priority because we already paid. Then they told us they’re different company’s and that’s the “matching” piece to the floor and sorry that’s how it is. I would not recommend. Terrible way to do business. The Install’s were fine the carpet quality and laminate quality is great but I have different color floor and trim without any resolution from S&G besides “that’s how it is”. See pictures
Another job done with high satisfaction. This is our 3rd flooring purchase/project we have received from S&G over the last 15 years. All 3 have been supreme and the materials on the previous two have lasted a long time.Customer service is also top notch. From the initial call, to measurements to installation. They cover all the details for you.
