This is a long-standing family business. The father still owns it, but his sons are waiting to sell, so if you’re planning to get new carpet or flooring, now’s the time — I doubt it’ll stay the same for more than a couple of years.My experience with Tom, an 80-year-old salesperson, wasn’t great. He struggles to hear, relies on handwritten notes, and communication was frustrating. The company could really benefit from some modernization and better customer interaction.
We had an outstanding experience with California Flooring and Design from start to finish. From the moment we walked into the showroom, we were treated with genuine care and attention. As first-time flooring customers, we had countless questions, and Tom F. was exceptionally patient and kind—never rushing us, even after multiple visits to exchange samples and rethink our options.Our home is older and presented several challenges, but the installer’s skill and craftsmanship made the finished floors look absolutely seamless. I had a very specific vision and can be quite particular, but they delivered exactly what I asked for. Whenever a small issue came up, one quick phone call took care of it—the owner himself even visited our home more than once to make sure everything was perfect.We’ll admit we were nervous about making such a big investment. Good flooring isn’t cheap, and we wanted to be sure we’d love the end result. In the end, we stayed within budget (we chose laminate), but more importantly, we got the look we had dreamed of. Throughout the entire process, we were treated like family—something rare in today’s world—and that personal care made all the difference.The final result is stunning! Our home has been completely transformed, and we couldn’t be happier. We’re deeply grateful to the entire California Flooring and Design team and recommend them without hesitation.
Such an amazing experience start to finish!We were referred to California Flooring & Design by friends after we had a couple of experiences at other flooring stores. Tom immediately engaged us and extended a no stress overview of flooring options, and quickly became a trusted advisor. Once we selected our floor, Ray guided the install process and assigned the best installer in San Diego, Ishmael! Ishmael is more of an artist than installer and navigated our 60 year old foundation with the expertise of a master craftsman. The work had ZERO flaws, and they even came back after install was complete to re-work a floorboard after WE changed our minds on an item AT NO CHARGE.Additionally, Ray came by with breakfast treats as we were moving back into the home to ensure we were 100% satisfied.This is an A+ shop and we HIGHLY recommend.
CFD was easy to work with and did a great job. Ray and Tom in the office were knowledgeable and friendly. The installers Ishmael and Chris were super hard working and really careful with my stuff and surfboards- they rock! I recommend these guys- they worked well as a team.
Where do I start! Just so much more helpful and knowledgeable than anywhere else we reached out to! Along with helping us with how to keep, store and maintain the wood flooring. Service and quality was perfect. Just referred some of my family there too.
