Reviews frequently mention a strong selection of hardwood and laminates and knowledgeable, helpful counter staff. Several customers highlight quick, straightforward in-store experiences. Some feedback points to sales pressure on certain products and concerns about post-purchase product guidance. A recent review notes frustration with payment processes for remote or over-the-phone transactions.
2 star rating mostly due to their inability to take over the phone payments. It’s 2025, they can’t expect to have people get an email with a PDF, sign it, send a copy of their ID all to pay for materials while crew is there waiting to receive the materials. All other flooring distributors take over the phone payments because business is moving fast and not every crew member gets a business credit card. They have good materials, and the people are nice but be ready to take up time signing papers and sending a copy of your ID or in our case drive 20-30 mins to buy material in person. It’s now 15-20 mins and I haven’t received the email to sign and send my ID.Complete waste of time.
The best flooring store in San Francisco. Fast, friendly, knowledgeable, and reliable. Wide selection of hardwood flooring and laminates. Highly recommended if you are looking for a flooring store in SF.
Great selection of materials. Probably not the best for a non professional (I am a professional in this context). The guys at the counter are knowledgeable. A bit pushy on selling some products I wouldn't highly recommend.
They advised me on a high end white wash to go over my fir fioor. I ran by my plan w/ them. then, including, after the whitewash, using a clear protective coat afterward- no mention of potential problems. afterward, when I explained the result - that it yellowed the whitewash finish once the clear coat dried, the guy there said, "oh yea, sometimes a protective coat can pull up the yellow from the wood itself, if the ingredients of the whitewash and protective coating aren't compatible. they offered to refund for the cost of the whitewash. really? after having ithe old floor stripped, sanded down, patched, etc., and I would have to repeat all that to get the old, just finished whitewash/coating off to start again, free paint! I passed. I expect more then bad advice from a comp which specializes in wood floors and refinishing materials for them. Now, if that was the Lowes advice, I wouldn't have been surprised, which is why I didn't cross the street when starting the job.
I'm not a contractor, and I had been searching for a few days before I found this place. Home Depot, Lowe's, and Lumber Liquidators didn't have what I needed, nor did any online dealer (only engineered hardwood crap), so I was getting really frustrated with the whole process and was about to give up. One quick phone call to these guys and in 5 min I was heading over.I don't know how this could have been any easier. I walked in, told one of the guys at the front (fully equipped to go into greater detail) what I needed, he says almost nothing, a few quick key strokes, says "Is that it?", I say "Yup", he walks to the printer and grabs the sales slip, then says "Pay her and walk across the street to get your order". So I pay and go hand my order slip to a guy in the warehouse, (still no words), he comes back 1 min later with a bundled stack of wood already strapped and ready to go. I said, "Is that it?". He says "Yup, you're good." DONE! The whole transaction took maybe 10 minutes max! Granted, I'm not well educated on hardwood pricing, but I do know that their price ($2.19/sf of red oak 5/16" x 2" hardwood) was about half that of the major big box retailers. At that point in my search I didn't care what it cost, I just wanted to be done. So paying so little was icing on the cake.I was a little suspicious the whole time because it was soooo simple. I kept feeling like I was missing something. Nope, it was just that they know their stuff and don't waste time on making things more difficult for you. Don't be thrown by their casual demeanor... they are good! I guess I had just built up such a thick defense dealing with stupid people and people that would rather be uncooperative that when I finally ran into a business that runs so well, I was thrown off guard. Very easy and pleasant experience.
