I hired Footprints Floors Tacoma, owned by Clint, for a 302 sq ft hardwood installation at $11 per sq ft, including demo and install.Clint personally inspected a failed floor in my home and confirmed that proper installation was critical. He also stated that the 4" solid hardwood required a glue-assist installation (adhesive + cleats). Despite that, the crew he sent were subcontractors paid only $2 per sq ft — not employees — and they arrived untrained and unprepared. They believed “glue-assist” meant gluing the tongue and groove, which directly violates NWFA Part V, the national hardwood-flooring standard.The subfloor had more than 1/8" variance in 6 ft, which NWFA requires to be leveled with a patch compound such as Mapei Planipatch. No leveling or prep was planned by Clint.The only work completed was partial demo of the failed floor and disposal (˜ 5 hours by one person), yet Clint cashed the check for my $1,670 deposit — 50 % of the total job — and he has refused to refund the unearned balance after his installer walked off the job (note he walked off the job because Clint failed to prepare him for the scope of work)!!This project wasn’t a workmanship failure. It was negligent and incompetent management by the franchise owner. Clint subcontracted the work to the lowest-bid crew, failed to ensure they were NWFA-trained, ignored basic industry standards, and abandoned the project when it got hard.
Clint was really great to work with. Always on time and responsive. Their pricing is very reasonable, and the only change they had to make during installation was due to existing home construction issues which the installer informed me of immediately. Clint showed up the same day to discuss the needed repairs and made it affordable to take care of. Clint was also very patient when I had to go back and forth with the insurance company about their own estimate for the work that needed to be done. My wife and I are very happy with the quality of their work!
