I had a very interesting experience with Frontier Flooring. I chatted with Elmer about the process as I had already bought my floor and needed it installed. .I needed double glued down engineered hardwood removed on the main floor. So, because of this there was a significant height loss into the kitchen and bathrooms where there is tile. The best idea here was the have plywood make up the height difference. I had it previously measured by another company and they believed ¾ inches was the correct height needed. Elmer believed it was 1 inch plywood. needed They installed the plywood quickly and demo’d the floors. We had one issue where one of their workers took a chair from inside the house and was smoking right outside my front door and just ashing on the ground for hours. I have a camera so I texted Elmer and he said he would take care of it.When it came to the sub floor prep Elmer told me it would be around another $25,000 and they wanted to pour around 250 bags of concrete in the house. The estimate for the whole job before this was also $25,000. So, it had just doubled now. I told him I wanted another opinion. I had a 4-5 people come to the house including general contractors, concrete experts and other flooring companies. They said that the 250 bag estimate would be something crazy to do and implied to me that Frontier was trying to scam me out of a lot of money here. Most companies explained they could do it for 25-50 bags ($2,500 - $5,000) and they believed that would be a very level option.I parted ways with Frontier Flooring and we came to an agreement on what was owed for the rest of the money for the work they did.The major issue we have here is unfortunately the plywood they used here was just a bit too thick. I know it sounds trivial when we are talking about maybe ¼ of an inch that that makes a huge difference when transitioning into other rooms. We now have an issue where in some spots the plywood is sitting almost flush with the tile before the laminate is installed (the laminate will add 15 mm more height) making it where you have to now essentially step down into the kitchen. Frontier didn’t assess this correctly. This has now created an issue where I am going to have to pay another $7,500 - $10,000 to have another company fix their mistakes. At this point where they made a significant mistake and it is going to cost me a lot of money in the future, I feel like I should let the general public know so that this does not happen to them. I think Frontier has people that can do simple jobs, but I think when the jobs are more complex there are a lot more experienced professionals out there. If you hire them it could cost you a ton of money in the future because they unfortunately do not know what they are doing.
We had an excellent experience with Frontier Flooring. The entire team was professional, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with. Elmer did our site estimate and found us an almost exact match for our discontinued flooring, something other companies had told us wouldn't be possible. He was also super responsive and patient with all my questions. Jovan and his team did an amazing job installing the floors — the work was meticulous, and the floors look beautiful. They even finished ahead of schedule! We thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone at Frontier Flooring and would highly recommend them!
Elmer and the team were great! They managed to get everything sorted on a tight timeline while I was away on vacation, and provided regular updates. Elmer was available to answer questions at any time, and was always transparent about expectations and estimates. The finished product looks awesome; highly recommend!
We hired Frontier Flooring in March 2022 to install vinyl hardwood flooring in a three bedroom townhouse with three flights of stairs. Elmer and his team did an excellent job, despite there being additional complexities involved with installing the stairs. His rates are highly competitive compared to other quotes we received. His team also came back recently to fix some minor issues identified. A+ customer service. We would highly recommend.
We had a very difficult and unique project in our home. Our current engineered flooring was of poor quality and was glued and stapled on top of a previous engineered wood floor. This required hiring a team that had the experience and know how to complete the demo without causing issues with adjusting the height of the floor when the new flooring was installed. We had approached several other well known flooring companies in the Fraser Valley (Abbotsford) to look at and bid on the project. None of them gave me the confidence that the job was going to be done right while keeping costs in line.We approached Frontier as I had read good reviews online but thought they wouldn’t take the project on due to the distance from downtown Vancouver. Elmer responded right away and immediately made me feel that we were dealing with the right professionals. He provided an estimate and then he and Paul, their installer, made a trip out to provide a full quote. We had good discussions about the project and we were pleased with their pricing and approach. We decided to go ahead. We had decided to install the Avila Craft Artisan Hickory longboards. Elmer not only priced competitively but also was able to negotiate with Craft Floors to do the majority of the floor in 10 foot lengths at a reduced price. Completely unexpected but definitely appreciated! The demo and install took slightly longer than expected but we were pleased with Paul and his team’s attention to detail and not cutting corners. Everything was done right. Along the way, Paul made some great suggestions which made a big difference. The floors are beautiful, we highly recommend this outstanding team and Frontier Flooring.
