We will NEVER recommend Cheney Door to anyone we know for any type of business. The worst customer service, communication, and business deal we have ever experienced. Ordered our overhead door in June, 2022 upon the completion of our finished outbuilding, was told initially told 6-8 weeks before the door would be in and able to be delivered for installation. That time came, and we had not heard from anyone from the company. Finally after multiple attempts of getting ahold of Allen, the manager of the Hutchinson store, we were explained that we would not be receiving our door until October. Had all this been communicated to us, we would have understood, but it was pulling teeth any time we tried to get information out of them. Finally, our door arrived and was installed the last week of October (damaged but at least it got here). After multiple encounters with Allen, he failed to order us a garage door opener while my husband talked to him at least twice about the specifications of our door.After all was said and done, we were very upset with the terrible communication, poor customer service, and length of time for anything to be accomplished. We proceeded to inform Allen's superior, Steve, about this incident. This was our biggest mistake of all, because instead of being concerned about our experience and taking care of his customer, he found that Allen failed to bill us for the garage door opener in the original quote of $3500. Therefore, he then asked us to pay an extra $1000 and some change that we were not originally billed for, after our final bill had been taken care of. Here we are, eight months later, and he still only cares about making sure he gets payment for the door opener that was installed, and Allen is still not taking care of his customers.Really bad business, coming after the customer for a massive personnel mistake. Again, we will never take our business here, nor recommend them ever again.
The doors I received seem to be of good quality but the installation was sub par and waiting time and communication was very poor. I purchased 4 doors with the highest insulation value (R18) and is the only reason I gave them a star above minimum. The wait time was pretty bad as it took nearly 2.5 months when I was promised 40 days. No updates on when the doors would arrive or any eta. Finally when the doors showed up, (nearly twice as long as the original ship date) the techs (not their fault) would only work for roughly half a day or less as they were busy working on other jobs or repairs. I've been calling for nearly 2 months (once every other week) to get someone to come out and repair the seals as the doors have leaked since day one both around the edges and the bottom seals. I keep being re-assured someone will be out shortly and have yet to see anyone. Obviously my 1 year warranty is slowly be etched away which is another reason I have detracted from their rating. One door panel was damaged upon shipping/installation and they have ordered the new one but I'm not expecting it to be here anytime soon or even this year at the rate this company works. I'd be curious to know if the garage doors at their store leak as bad as mine?
My son in law and daughter bought doors from them and they are not calling back and fixing the problem. They bought through the Hutchinson store and have also tried the Wichita store to come fix the doors that aren't working, also waiting for a replacement of a panel that was damaged. I recommend purchasing through Cheney door!!!!! They won't call them back after leaving a message!
Probably should give them zero stars since I couldn't even get a tech to call me back...six days after they were supposed to show up. I probably wouldn't waste my time calling their Hutchinson store. Not worth your effort when they will not put in any of their own. Very disappointed. Called another company and they will be out today.EDIT: Updated to three stars upon further inspection. The door WAS fixed but I was not notified that a person was actually A) coming to my home, or B) at my home. Not even a receipt left in my door. The fix appears to be good though. Nice work there.
I had been fighting various door issues for a while, finally decided to call someone. I found a different garage door company in hutch that had great reviews on this site but they didn’t return my calls. I called Cheney door first thing Friday morning and they sent Paul the same afternoon.Paul replaced my extension springs with ones that were properly sized and made a few other adjustments. My old heavy garage door feels light and new again.Paul then explained a couple of routine maintenance tasks, and then checked a couple of more things to make sure everything was operating safely.I was hesitant to make Cheney door my fist call because of a couple of sub par reviews on this site, but I’m glad they were the ones that came to save the day. I would recommend Cheney door to anyone having overhead door issues. Thanks for the great service, Paul!
