Came by for a warranty claim. Was told I was first on the list that morning. Service provider didn't show up for 2 hours so I left for work. Anyway, wife had to handle it while I was at work. Well, nothing was fixed, and he told the warranty company just enough to get them out of paying to get it fixed. Here's the condition this company left my garage opener in when I got home. The unit is in pieces, and the ladder was left out in the open. Absolutely unprofessional, dangerous, and a safety hazard (we have a toddler at home).
I purchased my home 4 months ago, and my realtor gave me a thank you gift of a yearly American Home Shield warranty. Of course the garage door goes out right off the bat, and I wind up placing a request to get it fixed... Now, unless you read the fine print, or know in advance why something is not working, you might be screwing yourself, so education & reading are an important lesson for me today. 1. American Home Shield pays very little for garage door repair, BE WARNED. 2. Research the company they sent to do any repairs and make sure, BEFORE you pay, that this is the right course of action for you and your budget. I knew nothing about Winston Garage Door, only that they are a company who does a lot of warranty work. Once I put in an order, they came out within 3 days. The tech they sent out, Shawn in Tacoma, WA was pleasant and knowledgeable. He fixed the door quickly and did it right the 1st time. Only problem I encountered with this company was the pricing. After 2 calls to their corporate office in Phoenix, AZ, and having the opportunity to work with Kyle, we resolved the charges I had to pay in the end to fix the door and was given an awesome warranty on work performed. It was a little pricey for me as I am a single home owner on a budget, but the fact that this company worked with me right away and we came to a mutual agreement, speaks volumes about a company's integrity. I would use this company again and I recommend them here in the Tacoma, WA area.
I had a pretty bad experience. They changed my Garage door Springs last year and what seemed like they used incorrect spring specifications. This caused my garage door to start malfunctioning after a few months. One of the installed springs is not correct for the weight of the garage causing malfunctioning of the garage. Repeated calls for them to fix their springs never yielded any result. Now I ended up changing all the springs again with different vendor by spending a lot. I won’t recommend either their service or customer care post service.
Very dishonest company. I do not recommend. They were supposed to change my garage opener throughout my AHS insurance and they simply didn’t respond to their job. First the technician arrived inspected the garage motor, when he saw it was not working he continued inspecting the cablean and springs, he told me that I needed to replace the cablean otherwise the new motor will brake gain and quote me for $700. I refused to that and then he left. He field a report saying that a part of the motor was broken and never changed that report. After 2 weeks a call again to the insurance and they told me Winston Garage Doors were hired to replace the motor and contacted them to do so. So they gave me another appointment for that replacement and on the day of the appointment they never showed up. I called them and they said they only would change the motor if I change the cables because they will don’t do it for that minimum. They even wrote me and email and a text message “ Hi Ma'am. Sorry for this inconvenience the one that scheduled this appointment didn't coordinate with me regarding the fix that is needed. But for us to proceed with replacing the motor. We need you to proceed first with the cables because it will only get destroyed again once we have replaced. the motor. And for this inconvenience ma'am once we can proceed with the replacement of cables we'll be adding free lube and tune for having to wait. We're very sorry for this ma'am. Thank you.”Now my insurance will pay me directly to find someone else to do it. Probably If they have worked with honesty and do what they were supposed to do, I were use them to change the rest. They are a joke. Please avoid the headache.
Jason, who did the service, was an excellent communicator, very professional and definitely with lots of knowledge that shared with me. In the time of just replacing what ever is not working rather than repairing it, he repaired the controller board of the garage door opener on the spot which remind me the good old style of engineers method. However the Winston Garage Door should have a better scheduling and communicating the delays to its customer.". Being an engineer myself, I have been very impressed by Jason diagnostic. He is such an asset to his company.
