Ken Darmstadt, the owner, attempted to fix my garage door, but left it in worse condition than it’s ever been, and then blamed the issue on me.

Ken is rude, immature, unprofessional, and a liar. He charged $12 to spray WD-40 on 6 hinges, and listed some bogus vehicle and administration fees on his overpriced invoice.
To resolve the issue, he told me he would leave the correct springs that he should have installed for the door on the road, in the rain, 3 blocks from my house, and then never showed up. Bizarre behavior to witness in an adult, let alone a professional contractor.

We have know Ken and Darmstadt doors for over 20 years. His work is impeccable, and even though we had our door put in 20 years ago, Ken still remembers us. If we had a question or needed a part, Ken brought it to us or had us pick it up at cost. He never over charged us or tried to make a quick buck. He is also kind and compassionate, he always talks about his family! I highly recommend him!

My parents were loyal customers' of Darmstadt, and when last year they had an issue with their keypad, Darmstadt sold a replacement keypad to my father. After several attempts to install the keypad, it was not connecting with the garage door opener. My father (who was 76) called to try to figure out what the issue was, and the employees at Darmstadt told him it was his problem and they didn't have time to walk him through it (and actually hung up on him!!!). We were going to complain at the time, but my father was suffering from early dementia and thought he indeed might have been confused about the keypad.

Fast forward to last week, when I tried to fix it for my parents. I had the same issues, and could not get the keypad to connect. Not wanting to give Darmstadt our service, we called Precision Overhead Doors. They fixed our problem in minutes - because Darmstadt had sold my father an incompatible keypad. So not only were they at fault, it further infuriates me that they belittled my father and insisted he was the problem. There are options out there other than Darmstadt - and we now know to choose any of those others!

I had a significant problem with my garage doors. I called Ken, and he came over to check out the problem. He instructed us on how to handle the situation until he could get back to fix it.
I called him the next day and told him the door situation got worse. He stopped by to see it that very night. The next day, he and his guys were at my house, and the doors were fixed. His prices for this service were very fair.
He and his crew were the nicest I have ever encountered. I will always recommend this company.
