The reason for the low rating is this company’s sales model. They sent a technician out to take measurements, then had him stand there while a salesperson named Corey tried to sell me a door over speakerphone using an iPad presentation. It felt awkward and unnecessarily drawn out.

The biggest issue was price. The initial quote for a garage door was nearly $7,000, which was more than double (and in some cases nearly triple) the three other quotes I received — including one from a big box store selling the same brand door locally.

By the end of the call, they offered to find a door in the $3,000–$4,000 range to try to earn my business, but even that was still considerably higher than competitors, and I was told it wouldn’t be a newly ordered door.

I’m not trying to bash anyone — just giving an honest experience. I’d encourage anyone considering them to really think about whether paying 2–3x the going rate is worth it. Personally, I’ll go with the smaller local company that actually showed up and handled the quote directly instead of routing everything through remote sales.

A1 Garage Door has good people in the field, but they really need to sharpen their pencils and rethink the sales approach.

Derek explained all of my options clearly and was very detailed in how the estimate process would work. Cory was friendly and provided an accurate estimate to meet my needs as a customer. When I provided Cory with my financial goals and timeframe on the project, he immediately provided me with great options. The team provided me with an outstanding temporary solution and quick scheduling for the permanent solution.
