I am not pleased that it took about three hours to get a quote for a new garage door. I thought this company had a local office, which indeed they do not. They send a lackey out to take pictures and then go in their car and sit for about a half hour to 45 minutes while they contact the main office in Phoenix. Then they draw up a quote, came and knocked at my door, and said they had to get their superior on the phone and they would be back to talk with me. Then, he was gone for another 45 minutes into his van while he got his superior on the phone. It is like he had to wait to get this guy on the phone to finally talk with me.The “process was very cumbersome, and I sat at my kitchen table talking to a guy on the phone while the lackey showed me a tablet, and this is how the quote was presented to me. This is very unprofessional, and that the people in the main office in Phoenix are the ones putting out the quotes. They don’t trust anyone local to give a quote, and it all has to go through the Phoenix office.

I did not choose A1 to install my garage door. I should have stopped the process when I noticed that it was taking longer than an hour. Plus, I have since found out, when I got the new quote from a local company (and my garage door is now installed) that I was greatly over-quoted by A1 for a garage door.

In addition, three years ago, I had brand new springs installed on my garage door by A1. I found out that the springs that were installed on my garage door were not for a normal customer garage door. The springs were for a very heavy duty door that you would find when you go to a dealership or something with a large garage door. Plus, I was greatly overcharged for these springs three years ago, and the springs cost me over $1600. This is more than double what I really should have paid. I know nothing about garage door installation, and I was completely taken advantage of. The person who just installed my new garage door knows the workings of A1, and the employees of A1 are told to charge as much as they can to customers. I am very angry that I was so taken advantage of. I am going to call the Better Business Bureau regarding this issue. They came back a year later and installed cables in my garage, and I was also told that these cables were the wrong cables and I was overcharged for them as well, which was over $400. I will never, ever do business with A1 garage door and I would advise people not to use them.

I booked online around 4pm and was able to have an appointment the following morning! The technician, Joel Hoerchner, called while on his way to our home, was prompt and super knowledgeable, courteous, and an all around great guy. Once we discussed the issues, he diagnosed and made recommendations for the fix. He did not pressure me into any choice and went above and beyond to correct the issue as well as things that had not been done properly from the initial installation. Our home is almost 3 years old and should never have had so many problems with the opener. Joel took care of everything and at a very reasonable price. We now feel secure that we won't have issues moving forward thanks to his expertise and hard work.

A1 Garage communication was stellar as well. We received emails and text messages regarding schedule of the service call as well as who our technician would be and when he would be arriving. Love the personal touch of the technician's interests and a little background as well as providing a picture so we knew who was coming in advance.

We highly recommend Joel Hoerchner and A1 Garage Door Service for reliability, timeliness, honesty, availability to schedule quickly and of course their work and standing behind it. We will definitely call A1 Garage Door Service if there is any needs in the future as well as if anyone asks for a recommendation. Ask for Joel Hoerchner if you call ;)

Antonio Quevedo, came out to provide me with information on some of the questions I had about upgrading my garage door opener and the noise It was making. He was very knowledgeable, very detailed and thorough. I purchased a new garage door opener. And I love the extra perks of the camera and the door opening quietly. He patiently walked me through the process at the end and answered all my questions, and he did it all within 2 hours. Overall, I had a great experience with A1 garage door service. I would definitely recommend.
