Recent reviews highlight technicians who are knowledgeable, explain what they’re doing, and make adjustments so doors run smoothly. Several customers mention prompt help when doors wouldn’t close. Some negative feedback cites delays, scheduling changes, and communication gaps after deposits on larger jobs. Overall sentiment reflects solid technical work with mixed experiences on scheduling and follow-through.
Things went great this company right up until we gave them a deposit for the work. It was downhill from there. After a 70% deposit on a $5K+ job, it was crickets. We had to call after a few days and make sure they received our check and find out when the job would begin. The start date was a tenuous based on when they could get parts ordered. After several delays, one of which occurred on the day work was supposed to begin, they finally got started. The lead man they sent out to do the job was the most unpleasant, disagreeable individual I have had the misfortune of meeting in a long time. I'm pretty sure the job was only supposed to take one day. It ended up taking two half days. And not two concurrent half days. Very inconvenient for a driveway gate. We were so unhappy with the workman, that we called the owner and asked him to come out and inspect the job to make sure that everything was done properly. Moreover, part of the bid didn't need done, so didn't need to be paid. The workman about had a coronary when I refused to pay the bill at the end of the job. I spoke to the owner and he agreed to reduce the bill. All this was on a Friday. We still had heard nothing on Tuesday, so I called them. Sure enough, there was a new invoice that needed to be paid. Nice of the owner, David, to call and ask if the new price was agreeable. David has also not called to arrange to come out and inspect the job as he agreed to do. At this point, I've paid the balance and David has never gotten back in touch with us. As far as I'm concerned, that's just fine. I'm never going to do business with him again. I'm going back to the more expensive and more reliable company that I've used for the past 25 years. Salem Garage Door needs lessons in customer service.
Salem Garage Specialties is an excellent company that I’ve used several times over the years.I recently needed new openers and seals for my garage doors. Johnny was the technician who completed the work, with assistance from Moses. Johnny’s knowledge of garage door systems was exceptional, and he pointed out a few adjustments he made to ensure everything would operate smoothly. After the job was finished, he also took the time to fully explain the new system to me.I also want to mention how pleasant it has been working with Miranda and David, they were always helpful and responsive.Based on my experiences, I highly recommend Salem Garage Specialties for any garage door needs.
Definitely won't ever go with this company or refer to this company. I contacted then in January for a new garage, replacement, and for then to contact me, no one did, they showed up, charged 90 some dollars to adjust sensors when we wanted a new garage installation. I went with it, since the garage worked for a bit, for the 4 months we've been dealing with it. I called the company, to possibly have them do the job, I explained to the gal who answered the phone, who I can't recall her name, what happened and what was originally wanted, that the company didn't do, and she asked why I called, told me I was being combative and told me to go with another company and hung up on me. I called back to get her name, and spoke to Lela, who wouldn't give me the gals name, and said she was going over my file or call, I again explained and advised I was writing a review, which I should have done last February...but I wanted to name the gal. I asked if Lela was a supervisor or owner and she said no, but gave me owners name and said hed call back Monday. We'll see if he does. I try to support my local businesses, but if this is how they do business, my money is good elsewhere. I'll talk to owner if he calls, see if I get a better vibe, but this may be one of those times I chose to not support local businesses.
As you can see, there was NO room to make the dream of a garage door in the garage I built 1.5 years ago, but being a home owner with very little knowledge or experience, I stumbled into, " hey, I have 8.5 feet from side to side, I can do it! So I ordered from Lowes a 6' by 8' door from Wayne Dalton. I waited and waited and waited, checking every 6 weeks, Finally. after 8 months, got the call, my door was in at Salem Garage Door. Elation! But W.D. sent only the door panels, not the hardware, S.G.Door put together parts they had in the warehouse to fill my order, delivered them, wonderful! But W.D. had the order all wrong, come on@! Kenn at S.G.Door went out of his way, above and beyond. He went to bat for me, never letting up, never easing the pressure on W.D. All W.D. was willing to do was reimburse S.G.D. for parts. W.D. didn't take responsibility for the mix up, never admit it, right? Thank you Kenn, Salem Garage Door. You are a man among men. Kenn gave me this install free of charge, FREE OF CHARGE!!! This never happens to me, never happens in this me,me,me world. I'm still shocked and amazed! The techs, Dan and Derek, did a super job. there was no room, they used a zero clearance track, it's attached to both walls, didn't need, as I feared, to cut the rafters at all to fit the height. They are magicians! And so much creativity went into this installation, they are so experienced, and able to think out of the box. I will forever recommend, no, demand everyone PLEASE call them before you order a door, much less install.Every minute spent with this company will be your very best experienceI promise. Thank you ALL, so much. God loves you Nannette Denney
Our garage door broke and would not close. I called and told them my issue, including that we were not able to close the door. They talked to Dan, a tech that was just getting ready to go home. He arrived, with Ken, about 30 minutes later. They were very professional and we enjoyed talking with them. They did fantastic work in a short period of time. Next time we need anything done to our garage door we will surely call Salem Garage Door Specialties first. Friendly, helpful, professional and great craftmanship!
