Bait-and-Switch Pricing + Negligent Service + Forced Upsell — Avoid

I received an A1 Garage Door Service mailer advertising a tune-up for $29. When the technician arrived, he upsold me to a $129 package that included roller replacement. I agreed.
After replacing the rollers, technician skipped mandatory counterbalance tension adjustment and system alignment — standard required steps after any roller replacement. When I specifically asked if these steps were necessary, he told me they were not required. This is factually incorrect and contradicts industry practice.
He then completed A1's own 29-Point Safety Inspection, certifying my torsion springs as PASS. Within 15 minutes of him leaving, the springs failed and the door became completely non-operational.
He returned, claimed it was "purely coincidental," and charged me $374.15 (After discount from 504)to replace the same springs he had just certified as passing. I had no choice but to pay — my home was unsecured with no alternative available. I wrote "I Refuse" on the invoice to document my objection.

A1's own 29-Point Inspection report certifying the springs as passing — minutes before they failed — directly contradicts the technician's claim that the failure was coincidental.

If you receive an A1 mailer advertising a low-price tune-up, be aware of what happened to me. Get all pricing confirmed in writing before any work begins, and get a second opinion before agreeing to any repairs suggested during the visit.

Our garage door spring broke, right after closing our vehicles in the garage on a Friday evening. It is a very heavy 20 year old door. Our cars were stuck until the door was fixed. I called A1 Garage Door, and Aaron was able to make it out within a couple of hours. Aaron was friendly and professional, he replaced the springs and replaced a few of the worn door parts. The 20 year old door is now working better than new. We were able to get to work the next morning without an Uber because of A1's 24/7 service, and Aaron's excellent work. Scheduling the service was easy, and everything from the parts used to the work performed was high quality and fairly priced. I had several options to choose from depending on budget, Aaron showed me the differences in the parts and warranties based on the price. Based on my experience I would highly recommend Aaron and A1 Garage Door.

Aaron did a great job on both of our garage doors. We had original springs that our builder used that were not strong enough to lift our doors which strained our garage door motors. He also replaced the plastic bearings with metal bearings that will last 10-12 years. Although this was an expensive endeavor we now don’t have to worry about our safety. Plus the new springs have a lifetime warranty.

As I was out skiing my wife called and said the garage door had broke as she was opening it up, fell of the track etc. She asked who to call and I said A1 Garage door service as we really like the commercials on tv. She told me they would be out in a few hours and that the dispatcher was really nice and very helpful. Aaron Davis was the technician and is the best. Very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. He educated us on every step what they were going to do evaluating the issues. Aron then explained to us our options as far as upgrading if we choose and educated us on every part of the garage door, the workings, lifespans etc. as important as garage door is (that we take for granted) it is crucial to have a perfect operating door for safety of your vehicles, you, security and escape route, peace of mind. We decided to upgrade all the working parts including a new motor and joined A1 ongoing service contract . We are very pleased and highly recommend A1 garage door service, thank you ??.
