This review was not left in error. We purchased a McKee home in Crossfield in 2023 on Knight Ave., so there absolutely is a record of us workingwith your company.Our experience has unfortunately been extremely disappointing from a quality and craftsmanship perspective. Many of the finishes throughout the home are poorly done and clearly rushed. There are numerous areas where the attention to detail simply isn’t there, and the overall workmanship does not reflect the quality that was presented during the sales process.One major example is our master bathroom. The wrong tile was initially installed, and instead of properly removing it, the team installed a second layer of tile over the first. This resulted in the entire master bathroom floor eventually needing to be ripped out and redone. We had to push and fight for this to be properly addressed, and it took almost a year before the work was finally corrected. Because of this mistake, our in-floor heating system also had to be replaced.Issues like this go far beyond small cosmetic concerns. They reflect significant mistakes during the construction and finishing process that should never happen in a new build.This also has not been an isolated experience. Several of our neighbours who also purchased McKee homes in the same Crossfield development have shared very similar frustrations regarding build quality, finishing, and the overall building process.Additionally, once the purchase contract was signed and the sale was finalized, the experience noticeably changed. The process felt very sales-driven upfront, but once the contract was signed and money exchanged, the level of care and responsiveness dropped significantly.Buying a home is one of the biggest investments a family makes, and it is extremely frustrating when the final product does not match the expectations that were set during the buying process.We stand by this review based on our direct experience as homeowners living in a McKee home since 2023. Based on our experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering building with McKee to do thorough due diligence and speak with current homeowners before moving forward.

Seeing all the materials in person helped us visualize exactly how our home would come together, and the design staff guided us the whole way.Now that we’re settled in, the quality and craftsmanship of our home speaks for itself. We recently built a very large fully custom home on an acreage with McKee. This is our dream home and we needed it to be perfect. We looked at a lot of custom builders and ended up choosing McKee for their professionalism and experience. We're SO glad that we did!Prior to hiring McKee, we had gotten a drafting company to try to design our home. We spent many thousands of dollars and many months trying to get a design together. We had very specific requirements and wanted a mid-century style. Working with the drafting company was extremely frustrating, expensive, and never did work out with a buildable set of plans. We had to start fresh with a new design.We had built a custom home with McKee in 2008 and had found Grace's design skills to be terrific so we went back to Grace and asked her to design this new house too. Her very first set of drawings were pretty much exactly what we wanted! She listened, understood, and drew it up perfectly - it was like she could see inside my head but better than I could have done it! She has a unique sense of what's functional but also beautiful. She completely understood the mid-century aesthetic and did a bunch of research on special details to include in our home. She also told us about what she viewed as 'must haves' in a high end home and what we may be able to skip to save on the cost. Her guidance was absolutely amazing and I guarantee we wouldn't have gotten such a spectacular home without her input.The building process was long but that's normal in this type of project. McKee's communication was fantastic throughout and they were on top of the trades to ensure quality work at every turn. We did have some issues once we moved in, which is understandable in a custom home like this which presents a lot of unique challenges in building. As much as it's very frustrating dealing with trades coming into our home to fix things, I have to commend McKee on making sure that everything has been properly fixed and that the trades all complete their work to a very high standard. They never made us feel bad about being picky - they understood that this is a once-in-a-lifetime house for us and supported us in that the whole way.It's a very stressful thing to entrust a builder with this sort of project - it's a huge financial outlay and the stress to get it perfect is intense. McKee gave us peace of mind and I'd recommend them to anyone looking to build a high end custom home. Double check the cabinet doors - McKee will install unsealed cabinet doors that can't withstand the humidity and cleaning of a kitchen, bathroom or laundry room. In less than a year the cabinet finish will bubble due to moisture ingress - see attached photos. Any complaint to McKee results in McKee confirming its preference of "cost effective" materials over reliable materials and McKee will do nothing to rectify these abhorrent and low performing cabinet doors.
