Reviews consistently mention strong communication from the project team and a well-structured build process. Homeowners highlight thoughtful design guidance and attention to detail during selections. Many note that schedules and budgets were explained clearly, with responsiveness to questions from start to finish. Several reviews praise the craftsmanship observed after move-in.

Old World Custom Homes built our forever home, and the experience exceeded our expectations in every possible way. From day one, their team demonstrated an unmatched commitment to quality, transparency, and craftsmanship.

Natasha, the designer, has an incredible eye for detail and design. Every selection felt intentional, cohesive, and elevated. She listened carefully to our vision, offered thoughtful guidance, and helped turn our ideas into a home that feels both beautiful and timeless. Her attention to detail shows in every room, from finishes to flow to functionality.

Mark, the project manager, was exceptional. He ran the build with precision, organization, and accountability. The planning was clear, timelines were realistic, and the project stayed on track. Communication was always open and honest, we knew what was happening, why it was happening, and what to expect next. That level of trust is invaluable during a custom build.

The craftsmanship throughout the home is outstanding. Old World Custom Homes builds solid, high-quality homes that are made to last. You can feel the difference the moment you walk in, from the structure to the finishes, nothing was rushed or overlooked. Their meticulous attention to detail is evident everywhere, and it’s clear they take real pride in their work.

If you’re looking for a builder who delivers exceptional quality, strong project management, open communication, and a truly collaborative experience, Old World Custom Homes is your team. We are incredibly grateful for the team and would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking to build a beautiful, well-built forever home.

Old World Custom Homes built our new home from start to finish, and the experience was absolutely top-tier. From day one through completion, the entire team was on top of every detail and incredibly flexible throughout the process.

Dave, our project manager, went above and beyond. I got to know him on a personal level, and he was hands-down the best part of the entire build—communicative, trustworthy, and truly invested in making sure everything was done right. Natasha did an excellent job guiding us through the design process, and Lisa and the rest of the team were always responsive and detailed.

If you’re looking for a high-quality, truly custom home and a team that goes above and beyond to bring your vision to life, look no further than Old World Custom Homes. We would recommend them again without hesitation.

TLDR: 1st and foremost, we are very pleased with our custom-built home by Old World Custom Homes (OWC). After living in it for over a year, our appreciation has only grown. With that time behind us, we wanted to share an honest review to help others in their decision-making.

We signed our contract in Fall 2023, and construction began in January 2024. The build took about eight months — which seemed long at the time but was very efficient overall. We selected one of their standard layouts and heavily customized it. The design process was organized and guided by OWC’s “Playbook,” and our assigned designer was great to work with.

That said, a custom home requires a huge number of decisions. Even with our design backgrounds (Interior Designer and Architect), we eventually reached decision fatigue. OWC offers guidance, but you’ll need to invest significant effort to get every detail right. The Playbook was helpful, but receiving it after signing the contract and allowances created surprises about what was included. Also, some decisions lock in early, which can lead to change orders later. As a tip: whatever electrical allowance you think you’ll need, double or triple it.

Regarding allowances, our biggest stressor by far was sitework. We built on our own lot and and thought that OWC had put sufficient contingencies in our allowances to account for every possible sitework scenario, but site issues surfaced from the first design meeting and continued nearly to move-in. These issues were specific to our property but taught us a valuable lesson: consider hiring a third-party surveyor/engineer before signing a contract to map every utility connection.. While it was our lot that we brought to the project for OWC to build on, we were frustrated with how the sitework challenges played out throughout our build. Ultimately, my wife and I had to get heavily involved, both with locating and resolving a critical utility connection to keep our project moving forward and within our budget. OWC supported us for sure, but we would have likely paid a lot more if we had left it in their hands to resolve.

During the build, we visited the site at least weekly, increasing our presence during finish work. Our Project Manager was good to work with but, like most PMs, was juggling multiple projects. Don’t hesitate to ask questions or point out concerns. Every build is only as strong as its worst subcontractor, and we had more workmanship hiccups than expected. Some issues required correction (e.g., wrongly colored stamped concrete, reversed shower door), while others we chose to accept (paint quality in certain areas). Create a rolling punchlist and get friends or family to help with the final one—this is your last chance to catch issues. Quality control across subcontractors could have been better; on several occasions we found things like windows left open after trades had left. Document everything in Buildertrend.

After living in the home for a year, we can speak to the warranty process, which deserves its own mention. Several items needed adjustment or repair once we moved in—normal for a new home. OWC’s warranty team was responsive and helpful throughout both the 90-day and one-year milestones, and they addressed several issues not caught during the final punchlist. Still, many of these items should have been resolved during construction, reinforcing the earlier point about subcontractor coordination.

In summary, we give OWC high marks for their team. They genuinely cared about our project, and that continued throughout the warranty phase. If we could suggest improvements, they would be:

Involve your designer during the allowance phase, and request a copy of the Playbook before signing so you clearly understand what is included.

Ask for references and work samples from subcontractors—especially for finish trades. Unless you hire a separate full-time superintendent, quality and coordination issues will arise. Vetting subcontractors early is your best chance to ensure your home turns out as expected.

I just completed the process of building my home with OWC on 12/19/2024, however have not moved in yet. This review is about the building process. I have to say that Jim, Cindy, Lisa , Dave, and Nick all had a role in the process. Building a home can be exciting but also stressful and time consuming. They all played a role in making the process easier for me. When I had questions they tried their best to get back to me in a timely manner and 99.9% of them time they did. Dave, my Project Manager, was out at the house daily and kept me in the loop with texts, phone calls & pictures that he loaded to the Builder Trend App. This is not my first time building a custom home but I do believe this company has high standards and they truly care about the quality of their work. Only time will tell after living in the home for a year or so. But as far as the process, meetings with the builder, communication and helpfulness they were on top of it. Every thing seems to be high quality and great workmanship. Oh and the beautiful, thoughtful gift basket that was there in the kitchen on the day I closed was a nice surprise and goes to show OWC is a class act. My experience with OWC was great and I highly recommend this custom home builder if you are looking to build. This picture was taken by Dave in December 2024. I look forward to moving in soon!! Thanks OWC!!

Sherrana DIY for life on Old World Custom Homes & Renovations

Sherrana and I just wanted to say thank you so much for the wonderful experience we had with our home build. I can’t recommend OWC highly enough. From Jim coming out to our land in the mud last December giving us the encouragement that our lot would make a great homesite to Lisa being so helpful during this process to Natasha explaining things to me (Bill) like the simple guy I am when it comes to home design to Nick helping in with the plans and to finally Dave Miller being our savior. This man worked his tail off and there wasn’t a single time he said he couldn’t do something I asked of him. Dave is such an asset to OWC.

We can’t say enough great things about our building experience. I highly recommend choosing old world custom homes for your future build. I was told that building was going to be a miserable experience and it was an amazing experience. This team is made up of great professionals. After moving in we were put in touch with the warranty team and they have been very attentive to any needs we have after move in and have been great at following up.

Thank you all so much from the bottom of Sherrana and I’s heart.
