Reviews

What customers say

Positive reviews praise customer service and attentive listening; one homeowner also credits Tim's team with promptly correcting minor issues after move-in. A different homeowner reports poor workmanship and project-management problems, including missing water lines to the master tub and upstairs laundry room and no insulation in one attic, and says concerns were ignored or argued over.

Customer Reviews

Barbara Hamblen

This is not a review I wanted to write but our experience working with Paradigm, for us, was one of such disappointment and frustration I had to. The quality of work fell far below acceptable standards for any construction project let alone a custom home build. We were forced to closely track progress, in most cases lack of progress, and demand corrections to work done poorly or incorrectly by unskilled labor. In our experience Paradigm was unable to provide competent leadership and effective project management. This led to persistent confusion between builders, subcontractors and us. Issues that could have been prevented were allowed to continue ie. after moving in discovering no water lines run to the master tub and upstairs laundry room as well as failing to install ANY insulation in one of the attics. These are just two from a long list of fails. Most troubling however was the way our concerns were handled by Paradigm. We were ignored, argued with and at times misled. Repeated patterns of gaslighting eroded our trust completely. By the time Paradigm left this project quality issues were so significant that we lost confidence not only in the workmanship but in the structural integrity of our home. We deeply regret choosing Paradigm builders and certainly cannot recommend them to others.

Tim and the team at Paradigm Homes are top notch. Their focus on service and customer experience goes above and beyond. Would highly recommend Paradigm for anyone looking to renovate, expand or for brand new construction.

Paradigm Homes are beautiful and James and Tim are so wonderful to work with!! They truly care and take the time to listen and execute exactly what you want in your home, which is rare to find among builders. Highly recommend them to everyone I know looking to build a new home, or to do an extensive, or even small, addition!

It is my opinion that Paradigm is not a good company and I regret giving them my business. Paradigm threatened to pursue legal action against me for my previous review, so I am posting this new review to ensure anyone who reads it understands it only reflects my personal view that the company sucks. After a year of working together, we lost confidence in Paradigm and took our business to another company that then built us an amazing house and was wonderful to work with. The new company was creative, kind, and kept our project on schedule and on budget. I regret giving Paradigm my business and wish I had found my new contractor much earlier, it would have saved me a lot of time and money.

We moved into our new Paradigm home in Oakton VA in March 2024. We are very happy with the quality of the home construction, top notch materials used throughout the home and superior quality appliances/fixtures. We have had almost no issues since we moved in. For the minor issues, Tim and his team were very responsive and timely in making the corrections. The home is everything we had hoped for. Thanks for making our new home what we always were looking for.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a Paradigm Homes custom-home project take, and what happens before construction?

Paradigm estimates pre-construction at about 3–6 months, depending on local permitting; it includes design, finish selections, final pricing and permit submissions. Custom-home construction takes about 8–16 months, depending on home size.

Can clients remain in their homes during Paradigm Homes' major renovations or additions?

Paradigm typically recommends alternative living arrangements and requires items in the home to be removed and stored during construction.

Does Paradigm Homes provide square-foot pricing for custom homes?

Paradigm says it does not provide square-foot pricing. It says costs depend on the home's size, design, selected features and finishes, and lot-specific site conditions.

How does Paradigm Homes handle construction-loan payments?

For a custom build, the bank works directly with Paradigm to make draw payments for contract work by phase; after construction, the loan rolls into a final mortgage.

What post-build support does Paradigm Homes provide?

Paradigm says post-build support is available for warranty concerns and questions.
