After interviewing several builders, Rob and the team at Zimmermann Homes immediately stood out to us.Rob and his team are incredibly thorough and transparent throughout the entire process. Their attention to detail was outstanding. They walk clients through every detail and are incredibly hands-on throughout the entire process. No detail is too small (they even measured my height before installing the mailbox!) and nothing is overlooked. Rob made the build process seamless and smooth. We recently completed our build process with Zimmermann Homes and we love our new house! Well done Zimmermann Homes and thanks so much for the hard work to build us a beautiful and unique home for our family!We met the owner Rob at one of his open houses and less than 2 weeks later he sent us the address of a great off market lot (we had been looking for a lot with our realtor and other builders for ~8 months). Rob guided us through the process to purchase the lot and then we started the design and build process with the Zimmermann team.About 18 months from the purchase of our lot, we moved into our beautiful new home! The design process with Rob's architect took 4-5 months (this took much longer than typical due to our unique design), about 5 months in the permitting process with Arlington County and then around 8 months to build our house. This timeline was a little longer than their typical build b/c we partnered with non-profit Second Chance to deconstruct the house (which we highly recommend as they recycle and reuse the materials of the home you're knocking down and it supports a good non-profit) and we were also hit with 2 snow storms which delayed the permitting process.Our construction manager Jim was excellent throughout the process and the owner Rob was very involved and always available if needed. They both helped us throughout the process by guiding us in the decision making process (you'll be making an insane amount of decisions throughout the design and build process). The quality of our home really is excellent and now that we've been living in the house a few months, I can confidently say that the home is extremely energy efficient.The process of building a home is not a perfect one, but ultimately you want to partner with a builder who you can trust and who will deliver a high quality home at a fair value. That's exactly what we got with the Zimmermann team. Also, they truly allowed us to build a custom home from the ground up versus some local builders calling it a "custom home" but you're really just choosing your finishes (e.g. tile, countertops, etc). I regularly meet people who have built with other builders and I can confidently say that our experience was so much better than other local builders!
