Can't recommend Rob Scarpelli at McKelvey enough! Super dedicated and knowledgeable... a great addition to the highly reputable team. I'm always happy to recommend McKelvey to people looking to build. I've worked with McKelvey Homes in the past and the service was fantastic. Due to a job change my client had to sell the house a few years after purchasing, and McKelvey fixed a few items on the buyer's request list for free and after the warranty.
I don’t recommend using McKelvey Homes. The base cost of the new home we were going to build in Cottleville Trails was $500k when we signed the contract, we told them in our first meeting we couldn’t afford more than $600k, they said, no worries! Sign this contract, but then the home price kept going up with everything we had to add to build the house and it ended up being way over what we could afford which was $725k without anything in the basement and no steps on the deck. After just a few meetings with McKelvey, and in the meantime someone told us about an existing house in the same subdivision as our son and grandkids. We asked and the owner of McKelvey if he would return our deposit after only 17 days after the contract was signed. He said no. He kept $10k - our full deposit. I asked the owner if he would split the difference, he declined. He then sold the lot to someone else, for another deposit and more profit. This was dishonest, greedy and unfair of the owner. I would not ever recommend doing business with the owner of McKelvey Homes!!! McKelvey is not honest with people about the real home prices including what you need to build, and doesn’t care about what is ethically or morally right. They keep deposits and like to rip people off. They’d rather make double the profit on the same land and cheat people out of their hard earned money, than do the right thing. They are greedy and selfish people.
The entire team at McKelvey Homes is amazing to work with! I have had the opportunity to work with several of them now and visit and photograph multiple homes they have built and the attention to design and detail is incredible! Walking through them, one can really appreciate the spatial planning and architecture. The are built with the modern lifestyle in mind and there are so many options and customizations available! The homeowners I have met are over the moon with their new homes and the entire process, and it's amazing to walk through them!
