Reviews frequently mention helpful design ideas, clear budgeting on some jobs, on-time completions, and crews that arrive when scheduled and keep work areas clean. Several customers call out strong communication from the project lead and site supervisor. A smaller set of reviews report delays, punch-list quality issues, and communication gaps on certain projects. Overall feedback is mixed but trends positive on workmanship and scheduling when expectations are aligned early.

We called Cleveland Custom Builders and Remodeling for help with a bathroom reconfiguration on a very tight timeline - and they absolutely delivered. We got our estimate through Tony who had great ideas for our project design and gave us a great price. We then worked primarily with Jack and his team, who showed up promptly when they said they would and worked tirelessly. They were friendly, courteous, and took great care in keeping things tidy in a construction environment. They went above and beyond for us while also honoring our budget, and even stayed late on a Friday to troubleshoot some of the “older home issues” that came up during our project and successfully found solutions for us.
We will absolutely be calling them again for future projects and will recommend them to anyone interested in updating/upgrading their home.

We just completed a big renovation, the second one done with this company. They’re detailed, go beyond what was agreed on and the communication through the process is excellent. Neither time did we go over budget and it ended on time. Jack, the crew leader is fantastic and extremely experienced. The crew act like friends and work together really well. They’re detailed and it now looks like a magazine worthy home.

Tony understood our vision was able to bring it to fruition. He worked with us by allowing us some hands on time to make our home something we created as well.

Dealing with an odd piece of property Tony knew exactly how the home needed to sit on our site and walked us through the processes every step of the way.

Thanks again Tony!

Our experience with Tony Kucia was disappointing and defined by a shocking lack of communication, oversight, and professional integrity. There were significant delays, poor craftsmanship, and financial discrepancies from start to finish.
Promised move-in was delayed by 5 weeks forcing us to live elsewhere and store our belongings in the garage, basement, and front porch.
The quality of the construction was consistently subpar. Second floor bump-out was built incorrectly, failing to match the signed-off blueprints. Tony was notified of this, but never addressed it, despite receiving photo evidence. The siding installation left gaps where it met the brick and unmatched siding was used. Poor oversight was a recurring problem.
Tony was often absent, even during building inspections, leaving us to answer questions without the necessary knowledge. Meeting with subcontractors was often left up to us. Tony provided insufficient guidance.
A major issue arose with the well installation. A permit was never pulled, and the water quality was poor, requiring costly remediation and a new well. We were charged $550 for a permit that was never obtained, and the "receipt" provided was illegitimate.
The painting process was a disaster that dragged on from February to August. The initial painter was inadequately supervised and eventually abandoned the job in July, leaving it incomplete and damaged. The interior doors, meant for staining, were improperly painted, then poorly hand-painted, leaving unpainted spots and even hair stuck to them. Significant paint splatters were left on ceilings, fixtures, countertops, and extensively on hardwood floors. Despite attempts to clean them, the floors remain ruined, as do hinges, cabinets, and brick. Numerous nail holes were never filled before painting. Baseboards were also ruined by bubbling paint, which the crew then improperly filled with caulk despite specific instructions not to.
The hardwood flooring process was a disaster. Incorrect flooring was delivered and distributed by Kucia's children, and we were charged $500 for this error despite a $500 reimbursement from the supplier. Furthermore, the installers Kucia hired were unreliable, wasteful, and raised concerns about on-site conduct, including drug use. Additional flooring had to be ordered due to waste, and the flooring was not laid long enough, leaving gaps not covered by baseboards and shoe molding.
The staircase installation was severely flawed. It has loose, improperly installed spindles and posts that didn't meet the landing, with protruding nails and poor staining and painting. After multiple repair attempts and new parts, the job remained unfinished.
Final grading left a large hole, and an employee's oil spill stained the new driveway twice.
The back steps were not up to code, with unsafe 2x4s used instead of the poured cement stairs specifically requested. Financial Discrepancies and Unpaid Credits: Tony charged us for numerous items we either didn't receive, or that were ordered incorrectly. We were charged for incorrect paint and the wrong mortar. Tony ordered the wrong sand for the brick, a decision never discussed with us, and then charged us for it. We were also charged for cedar/brick columns and two bath surrounds not used. We paid $200 for a tub to be "set," but the work was never completed. We paid for installation and supply of a sewage ejector pump, a sump pump, and garbage disposal, all of which we do not have. Tony received a list of plumbing fixtures from Robertson, marked up each fixture by 30% and forwarded it to us. Credits for items we paid for out of pocket were a constant battle to receive, and a $1,500 refund from JJ Plumbing was never passed on to us.
Our experience with Cleveland Custom Builders & Remodeling LLC was a very disappointing journey of poor quality, lack of oversight, and significant delays. The constant battles over credits, incorrect charges, and unfinished work caused immense stress and left us with a home full of defects that still exist three years later. Tony did not complete the job.

From the initial design stage to the final product, Tony built the exact custom home I planned. The project was completed ahead of schedule and I would not change a thing. The home is beautiful, very well built and I could not be happier. Tony’s insight when designing was also a tremendous help, ensuring the home met my expectations. If I ever need to build another house, Tony will build it.
