We built our home with Don during covid, from start to finish they communicated any delays and any changes that we had asked for they ensured they did them. When we met we asked for a few upgrades and changes to our plan, Don was always receptive to any questions or concerns we had. We have been in our house a little over a month now and when we did our punch list everything was handled very quickly! All of his subcontractors are on time and respectful. Don and his crew get to know each person they build for and treat you like family . I have received many compliments on my floor plan (Walnut 3 bedroom) and the standard amenities included in our subdivision.
We have been in our new home just over a year now and we truly love the design we chose and the final look of our home. We were involved with the electrician to ensure outlets could be placed where we would have our TVs wall mounted in order to keep the cable hidden behind each TV in every room and they even placed a board where I showed them I would install the TVs which made it easy to mount since there was a solid board there install of having to search for the studs once the drywall was complete. We had our annual walk through in which we mention and showed the inspector the areas we noticed with small cracks or bumps in the drywall and he put us in contact with each team that took care of drywall, one drawer in our kitchen cabinet and painting to schedule time and day for them to come in and fix the areas mentioned and it was all done quickly and done every well.
We have built several custom homes overt the past 15 years. This was the first time for us to select a home that was already completed and ready to move in. It made us a little nervous, but we knew Donald and his family and believed in their character and their word. We also fell in love with the location of our new home and the layout of the house that Donald had built.We are pleased to say that we have been in the house now for just over two months, and a few things that needed tweaking were done extremely quick and we are pleased! We are especially pleased with the plumbing team at Southern Pride. First time we have ever had a plumber on time, professional and just great to work with.Things will never be 100% right on a new construction, but having a builder stay true to his word, is so important for them and you. We are thankful to see this type of character in Donald and his team.
PLEASE READ REVIEWS FROM BUYERS/HOMEOWNERS BEFORE PURCHASING!I wouldn't let them build me a dog house. Shoddy work! Don't be fooled by the aesthetics and be prepared for a lifetime of issues with any home built by Don. They left a large tank in my back yard he promised to remove and 3 years later it's still there. My septic was installed incorrectly (which has caused major issues inside and outside of the home. I've spent a fortune addressing the issues. I called the Muscogee county health department and they outlined the issue with installation. It will cost 15-25k to repair. Don has taken no responsibility for this), Also, there was no GFI installed with the septic, which caused a power surge, my property lines are not correct and I had to have part of my driveway removed because it was built on someone else's property and NOW property boundary issues on the other side of the house are surfacing. Two houses down (also built by Don) had issues immediately. Since day one, the circuit breakers on my house pop several times a week. The model/designs are good but the quality of the build is really bad. Take the floor plan and give it to someone who actually knows how to build a quality home and values safety, satisfaction and their reputation. Once it's built you are on your own. Unless he has had a recent wake up call I'm warning you to run from anything Don has built. It's just not worth the amount of stress and financial investment. I'm just not sure he understands the real impact of his shortcuts.
Shoddy work on finishes inside and outside. Buried construction material in yard. Cheap finish material and cheap finish labor. Once house is yours he is impossible to reach for repairs and problems. Stay away from Don Bowles builders, your wallet and sanity will thank me
