Working with Sam Farahani and his team on our home renovation was an unbelievable experience. We made some major changes to our house and Sam was able to guide us through the entire process with virtually no hiccups. We lived in our house during the renovations which isn’t easy with three kids and two dogs. However, Sam went above and beyond to ensure that we were comfortable and happy. Same truly cares about his clients which made the process from start to finish not only bearable but enjoyable. I am tempted to buy another house, just so I could work with Sam again soon. I strongly believe that Sam is the best contractor in the Lower Mainland and anyone would be lucky to work with him. He is the cream of the crop.

Sam Farahani has got to be the best contractor in Vancouver. I have always heard what a headache renovations can be but those people must not know Sam. We met with 3 contractors before choosing and although all 3 had very similar estimates, Sam stood out from the crowd BY FAR. He is honest, organized, extremely thorough and you can tell right away that he puts his heart and soul into everything he does. His work ethic and entire process blew the competition away and I am so glad we found him. I'm the kind of person who likes to be "involved" and aware of every single thing happening in my house and the client control program kept me fully updated on the progress and gave complete transparancy on exactly where every dollar was being spent. Working with Sam was really a stress-free process; he is so competent and compassionate that I literally never worried about a single thing. It was like having a family member or a best friend be your contractor. He wants nothing but the best for his clients and he will do everything in his power to make your dreams come true.
Oh and did I mention he finished two weeks early and UNDER budget!?! :D Sam is the Man! The renovation is beautiful and we could not be happier. I will recommend Sam to anyone and everyone I know.

We hired Sam at Alair Homes to renovate our kitchen, two bathrooms and dining room. We also got him to fix a number of other issues both inside and outside of the house. From the initial meeting, you could tell that Sam was different from all other contractors. He genuinely cares about his clients and will make decisions that best suit your needs even if it’s at his loss (this happened a number of times throughout the project).

It was such a great experience working with Sam. He’s extremely personable and as one of the other reviewers commented, he is fantastic at communicating. Once the renovations began, Sam gave us regular updates and confirmed our preferences for small details that someone normally wouldn’t bother with but have a big impact in the final look. Sam was always responsive to my emails, texts and phone calls. Not once did he make me feel like I was bothering him but instead welcomed my questions.

The entire project was well organized and Sam set out a detailed project plan to complete our renovations within a fairly aggressive timeline. Even with us expanding the scope of his work during the project, he still managed to beat the original deadline that he set!

That’s not to say that Sam rushes things. Rather, he is very detailed oriented (almost OCD but that’s what you want with a contractor). All the tradespeople that Sam used for this renovation were great at their craft and after a certain part of the renovation was done (e.g., tiling), we would look at it ourselves and be very happy with it. But Sam would do a thorough quality check and sometimes point out minor details that nobody (including ourselves) would notice and got his tradespeople to ‘fix’ them.

Sam will go out of his way to help you achieve your vision. An example of this is when we wanted kitchen tiles in a specific size but were told by 3-4 suppliers that this particular size was discontinued. I gave up and was willing to settle but not Sam though. He knew it was important to us and helped us find it even after I told him repeatedly not to bother. We’re so happy that he was able to find that size for us because it did make a huge difference in the end.

We are blown away with the end result and couldn’t be happier with our newly renovated home. I highly recommend Sam for any renovation project that you have. My wife and I are all about value and with Sam, you are getting exactly that! Even if you’re unsure, just meet with him (it’s free) and I’m sure that will be enough to change your mind.

I hired Sam from Alair homes to renovate the bathroom in my condo, top to bottom. It was a smaller project then their normal, but Sam took it on full force and with enthusiasm. Right away I knew I wanted to work with Sam. He is very personable, very friendly, and very good at listening to your needs. As soon as I mentioned I do have a limited budget he began offering to just refer me to people who can do the job well from his team; so that I could manage it myself and save the project management fees. You can always tell someone has your best interest in mind when they are willing to help in a way that gains them no money.

Even after this, I wanted to proceed with Alair - as I not only wanted to work with them, but I didn't have the time to manage this project myself. Sam was on top of everything, and in constant contact. I never once felt like I asked him a question that he avoided or didn't respond to the moment he saw it. It really brings a calmness to your project when the communication is so smooth, quick, and pleasant. Sam put a lot of extra work into this that was unnecessary in terms of what we agreed upon for the job, but it was incredibly appreciated. Throughout the whole process, he and his team were kind and respectful of the fact that I was still living here as work was being done.

When all was finished, the project was done before the original timeline end, and under budget. There was one minor issue with some grout that got into the porous parts of my tiles; however once again, Sam was instantly in contact about it. The greatest thing about working with him is the job doesn't end when the reno is finished. It end's when you are 100% happy. He and his team came back multiple times to deal with this minor issue, and he said if it doesn't clear up by our check in, he would hire a team to handle it. The warranty aside (which is a great stress-reliever) Sam will work until the job is done, and then come back at the end, 3 month later, and 6 months later to check in on everything and make sure you are still happy.

I worked in contracting myself for a while, and have dealt with many different self-employed contractors, other companies, etc. and Alair was by far the best experience I have ever had.

Anyone who is planning a reno or a new build; you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't take the time to contact and meet with Sam and see if they make sense for your job. If they do (and I cannot see many cases where they wouldn't) you will not be disappointed. Especially considering this initial meet and rough assessment is free.

At the end of the project not only did Sam make sure things were tidy and ready for presentation, but he even brought over a little gift for my new puppy. Its the small thoughtful things that make Alair so pleasant to work with.
