It might seem strange to write a home-owner testimonial 10 years after the home was built but it takes time to recognize outstanding quality. I engaged with Tamlin Homes 10 years ago. The quality of their work and the integrity of their warranty has certainly stood the test of time.

In 2013, I decided to build a laneway home in North Vancouver so that my Mom could be near me as she reached the end of her life. I contacted Tamlin Homes. I wanted a space that was bright and welcoming, disability friendly, easy to accommodate a live-in caregiver, compliant with the strict requirements of North Vancouver City and within my budget and time frame. Sounds impossible, right? They made it happen. They helped me build my dream home that met my needs then and continues to serve me now that my Mom is gone.

The North Vancouver Chalet is a unique home with high ceilings, timber trusses, wide doorways, tons of sunlight and high quality construction. Ten years in, it still smells like fresh cut wood after we take a vacation and give it a chance to breathe. It is a flexible space that I have lived in full-time, have accommodated family and have rented on AirBnB. There have been singles, couples, small families, weekend friends, you name it. Everyone mentions the clever layout and how it seems so much bigger than the square footage.

It is beautiful on the outside too. People strolling by have asked me who built it and commented on the west coast feel. I have found notes on the door from locals that are thinking of building a laneway home of their own and even asking about renting it. The neighbours all love the clean and natural look.

The construction quality has proven to be extremely solid. Maintenance is obviously a necessary part of home ownership - for example, preserving the external wood trim. I contacted Tamlin and they were quick to facilitate my search for a reputable company to help me keep my home in good health. They treat me like a friend when I call them. They stand behind their product and they have my best interests in mind.

I will not likely build another home in my lifetime but if I do, Tamlin will be the first to know. I highly recommend this company to anyone needing guidance to help them through designing and building their dream home. You can't go wrong.

These guys are fantastic. Having worked for them for a few years, I have direct knowledge about how much they truly care about each and every client. From inception to unlocking the front door to the new homeowners, no stone is left unturned. Their attention to detail is second to none. They have an extremely impressive staff of experienced draftsman, project managers and admin staff. They are leaders in their field for sure. Working with the Tamlin team has been a great experience. Mike and Mayumi have been attentive, and transparent through the entire process. Mayumi skills and knowledge in the profession allowed for so much efficiency when we were personalizing our floor plan. She was very clear and concise with her communication, and gave us great feedback on what we were looking for. If we ever get a chance to work with Tamlin again – we will!

Tamlin Homes did a remodel and 3000 square foot addition, completely transforming our family home. The original building was a 2 story, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with a barn style roof.
The first phase was to remodel the outside of the building to add timber frame elements so it would match the addition. This was achieved by replacing the stucco with cedar siding, adding gorgeous fir timbers provided by Tamlin, and re-roofing.
The second phase was the addition designed by Tamlin Homes, based on a photo of what we wanted it to look like. They built the addition from the ground up, blending it seamlessly with the existing home. We, as a multi-generational family, marvel every day at our good fortune at having such a beautiful home to live in. We highly recommend Tamlin Homes for all aspects of your timber frame construction project.
