Critical reviews cite communication gaps after closing, delays on warranty or punch-list items, and concerns about workmanship such as paint, trim, and leak issues. Experiences appear to vary by home and subcontractor.
Beautiful homes and exquisite finishings, the multiple floor plans were great. High quality construction and attention to detail brings peace of mind to my family.
The process of buying our home sucked.. no one left a key for us to get in after signing the papers it was locked up inside the house while original keys were on fed ex , they sent someone out who climbed in the second story window to get us in leaving the trim chipped and scuffed up (thankful to have gotten in) but have reached out to have the window frame fixed for three months NOTHING! The paint job on the inside is HIDEOUS we could’ve painted better with our eyes closed…blue tape walk through was POINTLESS paint peeling from a lot of places , dry wall screws can be seen EVERYWHERE, dirt in the spray painting maybe if they stayed off the Modelos that we found all over our home it may have been half way decent. ??
Let me begin by saying that we truly love our home. It’s beautiful, and we were so excited during the process of finding the perfect place for us. However, in the midst of that excitement, a few concerns were easy to overlook—some during the search, and others likely missed during the final stages of finishing the home. For a home that is only a few years old, we’ve experienced more challenges than we ever anticipated. Our heat went out in 90–100 degree weather and required four service visits, including their master technician. We spent nearly $1,000, yet the issue still wasn’t resolved—we were still having to replace blown fuses ourselves. Our dishwasher leaked and stopped working properly, the heat went out again but now it’s 40 degrees outside, and we recently discovered water around the kitchen light fixture. We also learned that the fireplace was improperly installed, and the portion that allows heat to be released had been completely covered—something that should have been caught during the build and could pose serious concerns. In addition, every exterior door has gaps large enough for critters to enter, the window screens allow bugs inside, and there are noticeable dips in the shower floors, just to name a few. There are only two of us living here, so this level of wear and stress has been surprising. I’ve never lived in a new home before, but I’ve also never lived in one that caused this many unexpected frustrations.I’ve reached out to every company connected to these issues—often including photos—yet I have not received responses.I share this not out of anger but as a gentle reminder: purchasing a home is a long-term commitment, one that should bring joy, peace, and confidence. I hope future buyers take the time to carefully evaluate all aspects of their home so they can enjoy it fully from the very beginning.
Purchased a home in 2023. Two years later, here are my thoughts:#1 and most important info for POTENTIAL BUYERS: the only positive reviews are from people who make commission from the sales or the building of the homes. I highly recommend not going with Ben Stout, especially Soldiers. It’s not worth the head ache of never ending fixes around the house.#2 Look him up on Facebook, you’ll see his team celebrating the millions of dollars they’ve made selling these card board boxes. They’re not able to celebrate the quality of the homes they build, so might as well celebrate the cash they “earn” or whatever.- there are nails popping out of the walls everywhere. The drywall team is terrible.- no insulation in the garage ceiling, which means the rooms above your garage will be the same temp as the garage.- our tub was cracked, it was under warranty to get fixed by the company who made it, so they obviously scheduled that for us to get fixed because it required no effort on their end.- lots of drainage issues in the neighborhood- septic wasn’t where the permit said it was. We contracted out a concrete company to pour a slab behind the house before we moved in, sight unseen. The slab covered the access to clean the septic tank. It’s my fault for looking at the septic plan and trusting in Ben Stout’s ability to draw a square on a map.- the workers are going to leave trash EVERYWHERE in the yard. Conduit, glass beer bottles, pieces of wood, etc. Be prepared for your kiddos to have a scavenger hunt for a few years after you buy one of these homes ??
If I could leave zero stars I would. We purchased a new construction home in a gated community just a little over two months ago. We have had one window leak and two roof leaks now. Yes, you read that correct. Three water leaks in a brand new home in less than three months. These leaks have caused visible damage. The subcontractors are unreliable, and no issue has been fully resolved. The subcontractors are awful, too. Don’t be fooled. They’re the only ones leaving 5-star reviews and they are no better than Ben Stout himself. See the picture attached- they were too lazy to remove the tape following the walk through and just painted over it. Really?!You can rest assured you will receive the run around from Ben Stout and his team and there will always be an excuse as to why they never showed up to fix the issue. In addition to water damage, the grading was done very poorly. As another review stated, there most definitely needs to be retaining walls due to the slope of the grade. Since there is not, water will pool up in yards leading to extreme erosion and they refuse to correct the issue. Everyone I know with a Ben Stout home is unsatisfied.I guess if you want unreliability, shoddy craftsmanship, and poor customer service, then by all means purchase a Ben Stout home. If only we had of known this three months ago..
