**????? Outstanding remodel experience — beautiful work, honest process, and great people**

We hired Thompson Homes **Joe and Paige Van Elzen** for a complete home remodel shortly after purchasing our house, and then brought them back a few years later to finish the final two bathrooms. After two major projects with them, I can say without hesitation that they have my highest recommendation.

**Project #1 (started October 2021, after we purchased in April 2021):** This was a full-scale interior transformation. The scope included painting the entire interior, painting all trim, replacing flooring throughout, a full kitchen remodel, adding an island and a dry bar, installing a gas fireplace in the living room, removing walls in the basement, a complete master bathroom remodel with a much larger walk-in shower, updates that included the walk-in closet, and even adding a closet to my downstairs office. Beyond the “big ticket” items, Paige helped us make thoughtful design choices that made the finished home feel cohesive and original—like it was always meant to look this way. Details like a faux beam and other touches tied the original character to the new updates seamlessly.

**Project #2 (summer 2025):** They returned to remodel our final two bathrooms—the basement bathroom and the upstairs spare bathroom—so the entire home would feel complete and consistent with the rest of the design.

Throughout both projects, Paige was especially wonderful on the design side—helping us make choices that look timeless, consistent, and intentional. **Joe and Paige are incredibly easy to work with: responsive, transparent, honest, and straightforward.** Communication was clear, expectations were realistic, and we always felt informed. Both projects came in **right around the estimated price**, which says a lot about how they plan and manage work.

One of the best “proof points” for us: after the first remodel, our home was featured in the **Brown County Showcase of Homes (March 2022)** and we received excellent feedback from visitors touring the house.

We would absolutely use Joe and Paige again. They do excellent work—and just as important, they’re **down-to-earth, genuinely good people** who operate with integrity. If you want high-quality craftsmanship and a process you can trust, I strongly recommend them.

We have had Thompson Homes renovate many areas of our home (starting with the kitchen and master bath) and were very pleased with all renovations, but what truly impressed us the most was how they helped us rebuild after a flood. With the help of Joe, Paige and the entire team, our basement is now the basement of our dreams. They listened carefully to everything we wanted and built it better than we could have asked. How fortunate we were to work with Joe and Paige on the building of your new home. This was our first ever build of a new home and prior to the start of the process, it was very intimidating to us. The challenges were compounded in that our entire building project was done while we lived in another state. However, the trust and communication that we had and have together in them was there from day one and we always knew that our build would be done with our best interests in mind. We don't just refer to them as our builders but also as our friends. The entire crew including Scott and Hunter and the subcontractors showed to be quite the craftsmen and experts in the field and the finished product reflects that. My wife and I recently built our new home with Thompson Homes and the entire process from design through construction went extremely smooth and was stress free. Hello Paige,
It was a real pleasure to chat with you the other day regarding my neighbor's home project. You should know that we have been in our Thompson home now for nearly thirty years and still are in love with it and its design and construction. We still receive compliments on our home to this day when we have visitors, family and neighbors visiting. At the time( 30 y/o) our desire for an open design in the kitchen with functionality was a considered a bit unusual. Your insight and design skills helped us achieve our goal and we still have yet to see a similar design in other homes we see. We love it. At times we have had as many as 12 people sit around our "peninsula design" kitchen table and the family atmosphere created is priceless.
The custom woodworking and millwork, a Thompson feature, was well worth the investment. We have not seen anything like it in similar homes as ours. As you know, stained glass has been a huge part of out lives for many years. The design features in our home have allowed us to incorporate stained glass transoms, wall skonzes, and lighting throughout the home. A tour of our home by visitors is often a delight and it surprises them when we show the creativity we have been able to build into this home.
We are on our second roof now, no surprise, and the roofing company was very complimentary on our home construction when they installed the roof.
Our added sun room, which was added several years after we moved in, is still one of the most popular rooms in the home, all year around. And it lights up with glass colors as the sun brightens our days.
If you have a chance, please share with your father, our continuing love for Thompson Homes. We have been blessed in so many ways in our lives, and Thompson Homes is clearly one of those blessings.
Thirty years after we built, we still love our home, its features and quality of construction and craftsmanship. Not many can say that, proudly, but we certainly can.
