We met with Don and a handful of builders in the Triad over the course of a year. We were building our forever home on family land and picking just anyone wouldn't do. Don is not only professional but extremely personable. When walking through his homes, and some of his competitors, his were always a detail above the rest. It wasn't until we started to build did we understand just how much detail that was. From foundation, framing, plumbing, and more there is absolute highest workmanship in every aspect of our home. His subs are phenomenal. It was obvious to see they respected him and had a wonderful working relationship, which was a great benefit to the process of our build. Don is assertive in decision making and his experience over the years is worth everything. Annette was an added bonus. She was there to help us think through our selections, and point us to homes that may have already had colors or flooring similar to what we were after. There's not enough space in this box to explain how wonderful our experience was. We love Don and Annette and continue to be friends with them even after our build. We have a home that is better than what we dreamed up, and we have them to thank for it.

This is the first time my wife and I went through the building process of a new home. I have to admit, it was very overwhelming.... the selections, the decisions, the selection. Oh, did I mention the decisions?

Anyway, we researched several reputable builders in our area and after evaluating their prior home construction, customer satisfaction and attention to detail, By far, Don Mills Builder’s completely satisfies all of those things. From start to finish, Don made our experience with home construction a Pleasant one, not stressful. There were times we were heading in the wrong direction with a couple of our decisions, and Don was there not to guide us, but to advise us. Without Don’s expertise and foresight, I feel a more novice builder would have allowed us to back into a brick wall... literally. Also, although he could put cheap or inferior materials in your home, he refuse to cut corners or his standards.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give Don Mills Builders a 14!

Don built our home in 2017 and we could not have asked for better quality, craftsmanship, or a more knowledgable, experienced home builder. Don and Annette's attention to detail and quality is unsurpassed. Communication was open and frequent throughout the building process, and Don was frequently on site to oversee all aspects of the building process. We would absolutely recommend Don Mills Builders to anyone looking to build a home.

When we started researching home builders to build our retirement home, the name Don Mills kept surfacing as the quality home builder in the area, and we soon realized Don was the builder of choice for our home. Building from out of state has it challenges, but once the process began we quickly realized how fortunate we were to have chosen Don. From the initial design stage to acceptance, Don, Annette, and the rest of the team were amazingly flexible and always there answering our questions, which as you can imagine were many. We took advantage of Don’s years of experience building quality homes to ensure the details that were unique to us were attainable and within budget, which in the end enabled us to have a home that was superior to what we had initially envisioned. Not only did we choose the right builder and get our dream home, we also gained new friends, which as you can imagine when that happens, speaks volumes about the character of the builder.

If I could give Don zero stars I would. I had absolutely the worst building experience possible. Don charge me over $5000 in charge orders that were never signed or give in advance. He threatened to quit multiple times when held accountable for poor work. He still refuses to fix multiple issues. The craftsmanship is subpar and he refuses to fix issues. I am still waiting for him to fix the floor in my bathroom where the floor was transitioned under the wrong side of the door. See photo attached. I also have roof drainage issues currently where water is staining my stone. Don has absolutely no honor and integrity and should be banned from building homes.
