My wife and I just purchased a Granville home in Stokesdale one week ago, we are extremely pleased! The home is well built and superior compared to some past "new" homes we have had. The design, colors, and upgraded quality of materials was a plus. One of the manager's (Adam) was very professional and accommodating. I have called him regarding some minor issues that come with a new build (low water pressure in the kitchen, issue with the electrical plug for the dryer, etc.) and he made sure the issues were fully corrected within 24 hours. I also brought up the fact that the yard could stand to be "raked" due to some areas being depressed from the rain and people walking on it prior to closing, Adam assured me when the next door yard is gone over he will have those areas in my yard done as well.So far so good, I will gladly recommend Granville Homes to anyone seeking to have a quality home built that is of awesome quality.
My brother in law had previously worked with Granville and we always absolutely loved their home, so when it came time to build our home, there was no question we wanted to worked with Granville. Will Yearns was so accommodating to us from the very beginning, going as far as sending us ideas for different lots to consider when we were continuing to have challenges finding one that met our needs, and he extensively assessed so many lots we sent to him to consider - this was above and beyond and meant a lot to us. He had at least 10 in person meetings with us to answer all of our questions, sometimes even after hours, before we even signed the contract. We felt really supported throughout the entire build process and the Granville team made what could have been a daunting process really fun for us. We loved working with Chris Mitchell. He was always so reachable and organized - something so important when working on a project like building a home.We get compliments on our home weekly and are so happy with the finished product and the quality. We would recommend Granville to anyone looking to build a home - we can’t thank them enough for all their support while building a home in a volatile year during so many shortages and uncertainties and still keeping us on track within our timeline.
Granville did an amazing job with our new home from start to finish. Everyone we worked with was very professional and quick to respond to our needs and questions. We especially loved having all of the options in the Granville showroom so that we did not have to shop around for tile, cabinets, brick, etc.. It was all in the same room for us to pick out and see together which was so helpful! Our house was finished in the time frame they said it would be and it was done very well. Any issues we found during construction were fairly minor and they were fixed immediately. We are very happy with our new home and the job well done by Granville.
Let me start by saying I orginally gave Granville a 5 star rating and I still believe they they build a good house. As with any build there are hiccups along the way. These things were always addressed. The employees were always friendly, professional, knowledgeable, patient with addressing my concerns. They truly deserve 5 stars. This review is concerning how badly things were done after the house was completed and is totally about how my yard was left and the refusal to correct the issues and to own up to the mistakes made. I am a US Navy veteran and we have a saying " It doesn't matter how many Atta boys you have it only takes one Ah s**t to destroy your reputation "This is the story of that one "Ah s**t".I hate to do what I'm about to do, but I must retract my 5 star review. However under the circumstances I feel I must in order to save another home buyer from the having the same thing happen them. Yes they built my home and for the most part it was done well. However trying to get them out here to fix things that were suppose to be completed prior to closing, well let's just say I do a lot of waiting. Now for the reason I am changing my rating is because they have left my yard full of leftover gravel that should have been removed but instead it was pushed into every part of my yard. Before it was pushed into the yard I was on site with the president/owner I questioned him about the mounds of gravel that was leftover from the driveway, walkway, patios etc I ask if these would be removed I was assured that it would be taken care of, this is were everything started to go south. Not 1 single piece of gravel was removed instead they chose to push it all into my yard I now have to pay other contractors to fix what Granville did. I set up an appointment with the owner/president of the company to come out and see what I was talking about. Also while on the phone I told him what I thought should be done and he agreed to do that in the fall. So the following week I expected 1 person to be at my house instead a small army arrived owner of the company, the (owners son/ president/owner), the finance/designer,contract supervisor, and the follow up guy. The owner tried to tell me that it is normal to have a yard full of gravel and that it takes years to get a nice yard. I reminded him that I have built 2 other homes before and never had this problem. He said that they would not take care of this even after I told him that his son agreed to fix the yard in the fall by removing the gravel and bringing in good dirt. His quote was "He did not!" So now I have been called a liar. He then called is son over and asked if he said Granville would fix it? The son said yes and then started back peddling " that is when we set up an appointment for us to come out to look at the yard " The appt was between myself and and him only, not everyone who worked for the company. Oh and as a side note only one person said anything besides the owner and that was the owners son he tried to tell me that his yard looked like this. I also pointed out that while trying to plant a single small tree we dug 2ft deep before hitting anything resembling dirt it was all gravel. I even showed them the gravel that came out of one small hole. The owner then said they would discuss it.After many days, I received an email stating that they would do nothing to fix my hard....I am now going to have to pay someone upwards of $10,000.00 to remove the gravel, regrade ( standing water, and ponds and rivers after a good rain)I do have to say that the people that work for Granville really are good people and want to do the right thing for them I give 5 stars, but they have no power to fix the problem unfortunately they work for someone that does not care about doing the right thing. So in conclusion, hire Granville if you care only about your home and don't care about having a beautiful yard to go along with your beautiful house.
My wife and I are in the process of building a house with Granville now. For years we have heard great things about the company and the opportunity arose for us to build a house so we gladly reached out to them. Granville was able to build us a house within our budget and have catered to us every step of the way. They are very personable and understand this is the largest investment their customers will make, so they are very accommodating. I recommend them all the time to friends and family. We can’t wait for our house to be complete so we can enjoy it for years to come!
