Tanner Built Homes

This was the worst decision that we ever made, entrusting this company with our largest investment, our home! Specifically the owners of this company. Our house is beautiful, but I'm sure another company could have achieved this, while also respecting their customer's. Do not use this company if you value customer service! When I called out all of the concerns we had with the construction of our home, the owner threatened to stop the build of our home after it was 75% completed. They advised that we were being difficult! I would never recommend this company, simply on customer service! Which is the most important factor when considering this large of an investment. Our home was completed 3 years ago and the experience still stings today!!! Which is why I'm leaving this review. I would hate for anybody else to experience this type of service or carry this type of regret! If you have any concerns about this review, please reach out, I have copies of conversations with the owners during the construction of our home. You would be shocked at the owners treatment of their customers and their lack of ownership for issues created by their company. As I mentioned our home is beautiful, but I wish I would have selected a different builder and avoided this experience!

After our home burned down, we were devastated and overwhelmed, unsure of how to begin rebuilding our lives. From the very first meeting with Tanner built homes, the team showed not only professionalism and skill, but genuine compassion for what we were going through. They guided us through every step of the process with patience, clear communication, and a level of care that went far beyond our expectations.
The quality of their workmanship is outstanding—every detail reflects their dedication and pride in what they do. They listened to our needs, incorporated our ideas, and offered thoughtful suggestions that made the final result even better than our original home. Throughout the entire project, they were reliable, respectful, and incredibly hardworking.
What could have been a long and stressful experience became one filled with hope and confidence because of this team. We are now living in a home that feels safe, beautiful, and truly ours again. We cannot thank them enough for helping us rebuild not just our house, but a sense of normalcy and comfort for our family.
We wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for builders who are skilled, trustworthy, and deeply committed to their clients. They turned one of the hardest moments in our lives into a fresh start. Thank you for everything, Tanya, Ryan, Ms., Kathy and especially Mike who never hid from me when I showed up at the build site, which was around a zillion times.

Highly recommend Tanner Built Homes! We researched many builders and even reached out to others who had reviewed TBH and after reading and receiving nothing but positive reviews, we asked TBH to build our dream home. We are currently living in California and building a house so far from NC should have been a stressful experience, but Ryan, Tanya and the rest of the TBH made it so smooth for us. Communication was A+ and they were always quick to respond to our questions and loved that they were always posting photos of the progress on Facebook. I would use Tanner Built Homes again and highly recommend them to anyone! We have now spent some time in the house and the attention to detail is superior. We are extremely pleased with our home!

It’s taken me a while to write this review as I don’t typically like to shame businesses. Unfortunately, one of my biggest issues with TBH keeps getting thrown in my face lately as we were hoping to add on. We have been in our home now I think 6 years? We had an okay experience. House is still standing with no serious issues. One suggestion I’d give for anyone that wants to build a home with tanner built is make sure you write all your selections down and also make sure you go over any selections for everything. Maybe this is normal with building not sure as this was our first home but there were several things that was assumed we wanted when we would have paid extra to have different. Such as builder grade paint. We were never asked what finish just what color. Maybe we were young and naive but still wish we were asked what finish. I know originally we told them we wanted a bench in our shower. We assumed that was included in the quote. We found out once the shower was to far along they didn’t record that and at that point we could pay for the bench but wasn’t able to even get the bench like we wanted due to position of plumbing. Last, my biggest complaint of all is the brick of my exterior. We went with the acid wash look brick for the base of our home. Prior to closing a TBH employee came out and tried to get all the red mud off our brick and power washed the finish off our brick. Confirmed my McGee Brothers the brick was “ruined”. TBH way of fixing this was sending someone out to literally paint our brick. I have attached photos as it looked absolutely awful and Ryan and Tanya both refused to admit how poorly it looked and how it was nothing like my finish. We are currently trying to add on to our house and the builders who have been out to quote us are unsure how they could ever match their paint job for brick. I’ll never forget Tanya’s witty email back to me referencing my garden flag from when they conveniently came out to look at my house when no one was home. All in all not for the way the brick situation happened but for the way they handled it and refused to accept their mistake I tell people to stray away.

The best experience we have ever had building a home hands down. We highly recommend Tanner Built Homes to any and every one. They truly care about their clients and respond within 24 hours and go over and beyond. We could not be happier now that we are settling into our 'forever home'. Exceptional experience.
