Customer feedback is mixed, with recurring concerns about communication, responsiveness on post-close issues, and the quality or completeness of finishes at move-in. Several reviews mention delays in addressing smaller deficiencies and frustration with follow-up. Some comments also highlight negative interactions during sales or service. Prospective buyers often note the importance of clear timelines and documentation.
We have bought a house from them 30 years ago so we have decided to reach out to them again. I know we’ve had very good experience in the past but this time dealing with Shelly is something. No patience at all. She is very rude and I hope you guys get a different sales person. Because of that we will not be buying a house again.
My parents had bought a pre-construction home from Terra View a few years ago. There were a few issues with the home that required fixing during closing but due to COVID a lot of it was delayed which is understandable. We eventually had most things fixed but a few smaller issues were never taken care of.Fast forward a few years and we find some water marks in the ground floor bathroom ceiling and noticed that it was due to an accumulation of water from the shower upstairs. They did not waterproof the shower properly at the time and the condensation had caused the water marks in the bathroom below. This is an obvious indicator of poor workmanship. When we reached out to Sarah at Terra View, we were informed that our warranty from Tarion had expired after 2 years. However during those two years it was peak COVID and nothing would have gotten fixed anyway. Moreover, how would we have known that the shower wasn't waterproofed correctly if we didn't see any signs at the time? Instead of any help or accountability we were just told the same thing over and over again that warranty has expired and to reach out to a contractor.Would not recommend to buyers or definitely buy with caution. Definitely check everything thoroughly during closing and initial occupancy because rest assured you won’t be getting any help from Terra View if you need to fix anything beyond their Tarion warranty.
I moved into my house almost 30 years ago.Just doing some bathroom renovations, and this was what was facing me when I took out the powder room vanity! Not only was the very small room not the right size. This is how they try to fix it and left this absolute mess and just covered it over.I wonder what other kind of disgusting surprises I will find during my renovations! This is absolutely unacceptable for a builder to leave a brand new house in this condition.Buyer Beware
Review of Terra View HomesWe are writing this review to express dissatisfaction with the quality of workmanship and customer care provided by Terra View Homes. To begin, it was clear upon closing that our home was finished to the minimum level required for occupancy in a rush to get us in. For the first six months we had only one usable bathroom for a family of 5, non-functional outlets, missing or incorrect fixtures, and several instances of sloppy installation (e.g., loose base plates, screw covers, and faucets; missing paint and caulking; off centre or crooked fixtures). These issues were minor, but the sheer volume of them was concerning, and it took up to one year after we took possession and repeated follow up with TerraView before they were addressed.Unfortunately, we also dealt and continue to deal with more critical issues. TerraView has addressed some, while others remain.1) Upon closing, we were informed that site construction would continue around us and workers would need to plug into our exterior outlets to power their equipment. When they did, it caused the breakers to trip. Their solution was to run extension cords directly into our kitchen, which was inconvenient, unsafe, and unacceptable.2) TerraView neglected to properly record our upgrade selections. We asked for a gasline to both our stove and barbeque. The bbq line was installed, while the stove line was not. We even provided the make, model, and specs of our gas stove in advance of construction, which would have been an opportunity for them to flag the discrepancy. We had to pay out of pocket and after market to install the gasline to the stove.3) Our walk out deck was not finished when we moved in and still required stairs to ground level. Deck construction resumed after we moved in, and on one day, workers left an exposed edge with no guard. The gaping hole lead to a 20 ft. drop – a serious fall hazard for our children. To add to this, the stairs were never completed. Mid-construction, TerraView suddenly claimed they “got the math wrong” and couldn’t put stairs in due to the slope of our yard. So, even though we paid for a deck with stairs, we don’t have them, nor do we have access to our backyard from the deck.4) We chose to upgrade our indoor staircase to hardwood for $1,182.25. The material listed in our selection report for this upgrade was “maple”. No other materials were listed. We recently discovered after a piece of riser chipped off that our stairs are mostly composed of particle board with veneer, and only the treads are hardwood (confirmed by TerraView). We feel extremely misled.5) A year ago, we began noticing heavy condensation along the window frames and cranks in our ensuite bathroom during the colder months. When we notified TerraView, their response cited inadequate run time of the ceiling fan as the cause and that they’ve seen this problem before in their homes around the 2-year mark. We have never seen this issue in any of the homes we’ve lived in prior. Simply put, the windows are not properly sealed allowing cold air penetration and wood frames that are frigid to the touch. The moisture build up is now causing mould.6) We reported water penetration in our living room ceiling in September 2024. Despite multiple visits to diagnose the issue and assurances from TerraView via email that they would address the issue, they have essentially done nothing. The damage has escalated and water is now dripping into our living room through the ceiling after two days of rain in December. In short, we are disappointed with TerraView’s a) a lack of accountability, b) an expectation that homebuyer patience is limitless, c) poor planning and problem solving, d) a lack of clear, accurate information, and e) cutting corners. Homeowners should feel assured in the quality of their home and that their concerns will be addressed promptly and with care. Regrettably, our experience did not reflect this standard, and we would encourage others to carefully consider these aspects before choosing to buy from TerraView.
Worst planned subdivision. Every time it rains, we flood out. And no Terraview, we didn’t change your grade. Buyer beware.
