Building our home with Cano Home Builders was truly an incredible experience from start to finish. We worked directly with Andre on a full custom home in Santa Rosa, TX, and I honestly cannot recommend him enough. Our home is just under 3,000 square feet on a 10 acre lot with about 900sq ft of outdoor space. We had a lot of very specific requests and upgrades that aren’t typical for this area. From our quartzite backsplash, to custom built ins, to our beautiful propane fireplace with custom mantel , Andre made everything we envisioned come to life. Not once did we feel like something was “too much” or out of scope—he was always willing to find a way to make it happen. One of the things that stood out most was Andre’s communication and presence throughout the entire process. He was always easy to reach, quick to respond, and incredibly personable. More importantly, he was consistently on-site himself, making sure everything was progressing as it should. That level of involvement made a huge difference and gave us so much confidence during the build.Any time an issue came up—which is inevitable in any custom build—it was handled quickly and professionally. Andre never brushed anything off or made us feel like a concern wasn’t valid. Problems were addressed head on and he quickly found solutions. The quality of the work is something we are especially happy with. Our custom inset cabinets turned out absolutely beautiful and are one of our favorite features in the home. You can tell there was real attention to detail and care put into the craftsmanship throughout. What meant the most to us, though, was how much Andre genuinely cared—not just about the build, but about us as a family. Building a home with two very young kids (a toddler and an infant) can be overwhelming, but he did everything he could to make the process easier and less stressful for us. We never once felt like we were just another project on his list. Now that we’ve moved in, we are so happy with our home and truly feel like it was built with intention and care. We’re excited for our kids to grow up here and make memories in a space that was so thoughtfully created. If you’re looking for a builder who is hands-on, communicative, and genuinely invested in both the quality of the home and the experience of the homeowner, I would absolutely recommend Cano Home Builders.
We had a solid experience overall building our custom home with the Canos. It took about 10 months to construct the home, and the Canos maintained excellent communication with us the entire time. They were always available during working hours and responded quickly to our inquires. I was impressed with the Canos’ attention to detail and quality during the construction process, even going as far to make upgrades when they felt the house needed it. Their advice and suggestions during construction process were always helpful and well received. Building a custom home is going to be stressful at times, with obstacles and challenges arising during the process, but the Canos were straight up with us and always helped provide solution to issues that came up. If we were to build another home, we would definitely go with Cano Home Builders again.
Cano home builders built our home 5 years ago. During the various months of construction, Mr. and Mrs. Cano both kept excellent communication with us. We worked as a team searching for and choosing materials, paint, accessories, etc. We have been proud owners of this house for 5 years now, and we are more than satisfied with the work of Cano Home Builders.Right from the beginning they demonstrated their professionalism. They were open to changes in ideas regarding the plans without any issue. They paid attention to the most minute details and up until today we are very happy with the result. We highly recommended them.

Horrible experience. If there was an option to give zero stars, I would.Nine months after moving in, we are still waiting for a light fixture that was never installed in the jack-n-jill restroom. Grout along the kitchen counter is completely disintegrating. There is a hole under our kitchen cabinets that was never finished. Before we moved in, we noticed two huge spots on the wall in the guest room so we asked them to retouch the paint. They did not use the same color paint, but instead used a similar color- as if they thought we wouldn't notice!!! Not to mention all the headaches we went through during the actual building process and the extra money we had to spend out of our own pockets (like $2000 to have the cabinets repainted because Rachel used the wrong stain, but refused to own up to her mistake, or having to replace two restroom doors because they literally used closet doors instead of standard doors). At one point when we went to pick out fixtures and tiles, I specificly explained to her about wanting Carrara white 3'' hexagon mosaic tile with white grout in the master bath, which she agreed to and had us sign-off for. A few days later, I walked in and saw 1'' square tiles with dark grey grout (looked exactly like the floor of a public restroom - I was so disappointed). It was a battle, but we fought for what we wanted and they ended up replacing the tiles for what we originally asked for. I do love our house. The designer did a great job; I just wish we had gone with another builder. Rachel Cano has no moral compass and only pretends to care about the customer's needs until you're so far in you can't back out - then it's just becomes about cutting corners to put more money in their pocket. So you can better understand, I'm going to share a quick story. All our fixtures were originally chosen from Ferguson's in Pharr. My husband and I spent an entire Saturday choosing lights, sinks, handles, etc. all while trying to stay within our budget. We ended up going over budget, but signed the paperwork anyway and agree that we'd be back the following weekend to make a payment. When we return, Ferguson's tells us they will no longer be working with Rachel Cano. She had paid off one of the employees to give her discounted pricing on all her purchases. I noticed the desk belonging to the lady that helped us the weekend before had been cleaned out. Obviously they had let her go. Of course, when we asked Rachel about it, she spun it around and said it was Ferguson's fault. Needless to say, I had to drive from Harlingen to McAllen on a Thursday after work to spend a couple hours picking out fixtures AGAIN at a different company. So annoying. I would never recommend these people to anyone I know. If you are considering working with this builder, please reconsider. There are other, more professional builders out there who don't take advantage of their customers. Do your research and don't settle!
