Such a cute place! Wish they made these for newly weds!
During the first real windstorm (May 13, 2025) after our Ovation Homes fence was installed, 25% of the fence post caps blew off. I found all but one and put them back on. Since no one would expect that, I assumed the caps weren’t properly secured. There was no silicone dob on any side of the caps I found. I called Ovation Homes and was told to call the Ace Fence Company in Ogden who installed the fence. The nice woman I talked to on May 15, 2025 told me they always secure the caps with a dob of adhesive, and then I said they hadn’t on our fence. She then told me this was a warranty issue, and I had to call Ovation Homes and have them start the warranty claim. That was done, and I got no response from Ovation Homes. So, I stopped by their Kaysville office on May 19, 2025, and they told me that Ace never secures the fence post caps and that that is industry standard. I called Valley Wide Fence in Layton and they told me they always secure the caps with vinyl adhesive because, according to them, “if you don’t the caps blow off”, and they also told me that securing caps is industry standard. I also called All Over Fence Co. and they told me the exact same thing. They always, always secure the caps with glue. And, then I talked to a neighbor, who basically has the same Ovation Home built at the same time as us, and they told me that Ace secured their caps when their fence was put in. (Ace didn’t secure their gate caps when the gate was put in a few months ago, and they’re trying to get that done now because those caps blew off during the last windstorm). Ovation Homes emailed me on May 19, 2025 and told me that they don’t warranty the fence from acts of God, and that we signed pages of legal fine print that said that, so we agreed to it. But, the cause wasn’t an act of God, the cause of the missing post caps was poor workmanship, by not securing the caps, like industry standard would demand. A few days later when I talked to theAce Fence manager, he told me that it was their standard practice to glue the caps on, and they must have missed some of mine. A refreshing admission, and I thanked him for it, and then I went and glued mine on myself. While doing this, I found that about 2/3rds of them had been glued on properly, so most of the ones not glued on, did blow off. So, my intuition was correct. A legitimate fence company would secure caps, and a legitimate home builder would know that. Why Ovation Homes would fight me tooth and nail over this is beyond understanding. Ovation Homes is all about trying to get out of doing the right thing, by blaming it on others, trying to dump it on the homeowner, and by reminding you about the pages of fine print you signed. I wouldn’t use Ovation Homes again. I find them serious lacking in integrity and accountability.
I moved into my new Ovation Hime just weeks ago. Mike Doyle was my contact throughout my building process. He kept me informed and answered any questions I had very quickly. The Ovation team were flexible with a few specific requests I had. I couldn’t be more pleased with my home and the entire experience. Thanks Ovation Team!
My experience with Ovation from start to finish with a couple deals, closed and even cancelled, was stellar! Agent Amy Pace was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, prompt, kind and made the process great. I've seen many builders and their work ethics, or their remedies when clients need things taken care of - and I'm confident with Ovation. They are solid and thorough. They don't cut corners. They are proud of their product and stand behind it. They always address any issues, even as small as the issue may seem. They provide a quality home and make a great team to work with. I will definitely bring future clients to them as I know they will take care of my clients and work well with agents. Amy Pace collaborates extremely well, nothing to complain about - I just wish I could do more deals with her and Ovation more often :)
