We recently built our home with DJK, and overall, it was a very positive experience. The quality of the work is strong, and the team was professional and committed throughout the process. That said, I did feel that some of the pricing on upgrades ran a bit higher than expected, and like with any large build, certain trades contacts were stronger than others.

The standout of the entire experience was our project manager, Andy. He was truly fantastic—responsive, proactive, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure things were done right. Andy made what could have been a stressful process feel much smoother, and he was a pleasure to work with from start to finish.

If you are considering building with DJK, I’d recommend them—especially knowing you’ll be in great hands if you’re lucky enough to have Andy as your project manager.

Starting with the initial discussion and subsequent negotiations with Dan, then on to the planning stages with Halina and Andy, their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to quality exceeded my expectations. Through the entire process of the build, Halina and Andy kept me informed, were responsive to my questions, and addressed any concerns promptly. I always felt heard and respected, which made the experience smooth and enjoyable. In addition, I truly appreciated the craftsmanship of the trades, specifically, details were completed with care and precision. DJK uses high-quality materials and employs skilled trades people that take pride in their work. Last, but not least, DJK delivered my home when they said they would and within my budget. I couldn’t be happier with the end result—it’s everything that I had hoped for and more. Our new home built by DJK is beautiful and the quality outstanding. We were very fortunate to have worked with Halina Mark on the design. Halina carefully listened to us and created an interior design that is both beautiful and functional. Halina patiently worked with us every step of the way from architectural plans to close. During the architectural design phase Dan Kittilsen was helpful and had great ideas. Mark Papa managed construction and was outstanding throughout the project. Mark’s attention to detail was remarkable. The subcontractors used by DJK were excellent. Any building project is bound to have problems but both Mark and Halina worked quickly to resolve issues as they arose. DJK’s build process is thorough. While DJK is not a cheap builder, they do strive to build an excellent home.

My husband and I recently moved to the Chicagoland area and were interested in a custom home. We worked with Amanda to discuss homes, lots and even visit the Design Center. It didn't work out at this time to purchase a DJK house, but we will be back as soon as we can as we were thoroughly impressed with their customer service, their design options, customization abilities and building practices. We can't say enough fantastic things about Amanda and the rest of the team. We look forward to working together in the future!
