I should have posted this review months ago. I moved into my Sider Bros home last December 2024. As anyone knows, it takes a long time and a lot of money to build a custom home. It was close to 3 1/2 years from our first meeting. Shawn and the entire Siders Bros team deserves this 5 star review. My home is beautiful, the team worked hard and cared a great deal about doing a good job, and I never had any issue. So many times people went above and beyond. I include the trades that were brought in to do the HVAC, the plumbing, the electrical, the tech - everyone was fantastic. Any follow-up has been quickly looked after, even if it is 8pm on a Saturday night. I cannot speak enough of the whole team. It starts at the top. Thank you Shawn Sider! I am very grateful.
We hired Sider Bros to put James Hardie Cement board on our waterfront house and do some remodeling. Sider failed to follow JHB instillation instructions using proper spacing and not caulking non factory edges now the cement board siding is cracking and falling off the house. Shawn is extremely unprofessional and will not own up to the mistakes they made.Update: I hired an envelope engineering firm (HAAG Engineering) to study and document all the installation mistakes that Sider Bros made that lead to water damage. They concluded that I needed to tear off all of the James Hardie Cement Board and do a complete redo. I then hired Tip Top Siding a James Hardie Board Certified Installer to remove all of Sider Bros installation of JHB cement boar as directed and replace all of the siding correctly. Excellent workmanship by this company. I have since filed a lawsuit against Sider Bros to get this issue addressed financially since Sider Bros would not respond or offer to fix the issues of not following the JHB installation instructions. A complete nightmare dealing with this company. There has been no attempt or argument that the job was done correctly by Sider Bros. I never had to sue anyone before and I ran manufacturing company dealing with hundreds vendors and thousands of transactions- AVOID SIDER BROS!!! This business was a trustworthy one when Shawn’s father was running it, now that he’s no longer involved the sons lack his integrity and honesty.
We are absolutely in love with our new home built by Sider Bros. From start to finish it was the most enjoyable process. They helped us design our dream home from pictures and inspiration we presented and we were blown away how they could bring the ideas to life. They know the industry inside out and were able to guide us the entire time which made it as seamless for us as could be. We’ve had renovations in the past that were full of stress and miscommunications and disappointment. Working with Sider Bros we never had an issue and were so relaxed as we fully trusted them every step of the way. They had built my parents home 10 years prior so we had confidence right out the gate and working with them personally was a pleasure where we became more like friends on a journey together.
In 2013, we purchased a property on the shores of Lake Erie that we used as a seasonal cottage until 2019 when we decided that we were ready to build a new home and relocate there permanently. We hired an architect to develop plans for our home and once we had a good sense of what we were building, we began a search for a contractor. Having seen work that the Sider Bros had done in the area, we decided that they should be part of the selection process.We found Shawn very knowlegeable, experienced and responsive. We visited some of his other work sites and were impressed with the quality and craftsmanship. We also liked that idea that Sider Bros were able to produce any custom work directly from their own mill, with Wayne at the helm.Once we agreed to go forward with Sider Bros, the start date of the build was established and executed accordingly. The whole build process was relatively easy and well guided by Shawn. We never felt overwhelmed by all the decisions that needed to be made with the help and guidance from Shawn and the Sider team.We also had to deal with a neighbour that was not pleased with a build happening next door, but the Sider team and their subcontractors were responsive and professional and went well above expectations to appease them.After 18 months and through COVID, our new home was as we had hoped. The quality and craftsmanship of the work stands out as soon as you approach the front door of our home. Also, the service after the construction was finished has been excellent.We have highly recommended Sider Bros to our friends, and would extend that recommendation to anyone that are looking to build or renovate their home.Gino Stinziani and Christine Allen
Our experience working with Sider Brothers was extremely satisfying. From planning, to the finished work and even the finances, Sider is top notch and delivered on all promises. They gave us ideas for our new deck and screened room that enhanced the rest of the house in surprising ways. It has become the most important part of our house because of the design input that they encouraged us with. You only get this from companies with years of experience who truly care about the results they produce. Suggestion: If you are lucky enough to get Shawn and his crew to work on your house, listen to their input and let them get to work. This is the only company I would use for a renovation or build in our area. This is a recent exterior picture … deer included.
