A previous Google review I posted in April 2025 is no longer visible, so I am reposting my experience here for transparency. I regret hiring Turner & Son Homes and cannot recommend them. We paid nearly $700,000 and experienced poor workmanship, ongoing communication issues, and repeated quality concerns throughout the build. In early April 2025, I left a review on Turner & Son’s Facebook page describing these issues. Another customer commented that they were experiencing similar problems. When I checked back on April 11, my review and the other customer’s comments were gone, and the company had disabled reviews entirely. The reason given was “supposed coordinated activity,” despite the comments reflecting independent customer experiences. That response, combined with what we encountered during construction, raised concerns for us as homeowners. Craftsmanship Issues: The interior paint job was unacceptable, with uneven coverage, sloppy caulking, overspray, drips, and texture problems. Despite repeated requests, these issues were not corrected. I ultimately paid approximately $34,000 out of pocket to have the work redone by a professional. Even one of Turner & Son’s subcontractors commented on the condition of the original paint work. Flooring installation also presented problems. The LVP was improperly glued, corners were poorly trimmed, and sand left underneath created an uneven walking surface. After raising concerns, the project manager stated he would not be onsite to quality-check the installation. I later paid an additional $2,400 to correct these issues. Communication & Oversight: Our project manager was frequently unresponsive and slow to reply. When the flooring was damaged during installation, he asked us to take photos while he was on vacation—even though the floors were covered with plywood and butcher paper and could not be accessed. I requested assistance, but no one was sent. Homeowners were not allowed to communicate directly with trades. With limited onsite supervision, issues often went unnoticed or unresolved, and attempts to address problems sometimes resulted in additional complications. Safety & Professionalism Concerns: After damage occurred to the stair railing during painting, I asked that adjacent areas be protected to prevent further issues. Instead, I was told that work could stop unless all concerns were routed through the project manager. The upstairs railing was poorly constructed and not secure, and there was no clear plan to replace it. Out of concern for safety and the lack of progress, I contacted the realtor who sold us the land and had recommended Turner & Son Homes. After she contacted Tim Turner, the project manager arrived the following day to replace several damaged railing posts. It still took more than two months for the upstairs railing to be fully addressed. During that time, our young children were not allowed upstairs without assistance due to safety concerns. Additional Issues Observed: • Uneven flooring with visible dips • Construction debris remaining in the yard more than six weeks after occupancy • Oversized nail holes filled with non-matching putty, leaving visible blemishes across a significant amount of the pine paneling throughout our home In June 2025, the exterior stone was replaced at a cost of approximately $13,500 because sections were uneven and beginning to detach. The contractor who completed the replacement noted areas where insufficient mortar had originally been used. I communicated directly with Tim Turner, the owner of Turner & Son Homes, and told him that I regretted hiring his company based on our experience. I did not receive a response. As a recently retired Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, I value accountability, professionalism, and responsibility. I am sharing this experience so prospective homeowners can make an informed decision based on our firsthand experience.

Addendum: Thank you for responding to my review. I feel it’s important to clarify a few points regarding the management of this particular build. Your statement about the material staging being, “Managed deliberately to align with the engineer drainage plan of useful standards”, Doesn’t quite align with the reality we, as neighbors, observed, and the actions take by the Department of Environmental Quality. The DEQ did, in fact, attempt to reach out to you multiple times regarding compliance issues, which ultimately led to the matter being escalated to another department due to the lack of timely response. This active involvement from environmental regulators suggest the site management was not consistently meeting the necessary standards. My observations, and those of our neighbors, directly pointed to issues with the silt fencing. While I recognize that heavy rain can overwhelm even well maintained barriers, this only reinforces the need for more aggressive and consistent management. We witnessed silt fencing being diligently maintained and effective only when the driveway was about to be installed…clearly demonstrating that a higher standard of management was achievable throughout the project. Had this level of diligence been applied consistently from the beginning, many of the problems with mud and dirt runoff into our yards and road could have been significantly mitigated. Furthermore, the unusually large pile of red clay dirt remain on site for months. Transferring this material to another one of your nearby sites, even temporarily, would’ve greatly reduced the runoff issues we experienced. We notice partial removal to the other site, but unfortunately, not enough material was transferred. It’s also note worthy the significant increase in positive views for your company that appeared shortly after my and other less favorable reviews were posted. In just one month, your company’s reviews almost doubled, which feels like a concentrated effort to dilute legitimate concerns raised by actual neighbors and former clients. In fact, following my review, a previous client of yours even took the time to find me and share their own experience, describing the building process with your company as, ‘terrible’. This client relayed paying of out-of-pocket almost 40k to fix what they were told by you was, ‘industry standard’. This anecdote, alongside other’s experiences, the DEQ’s involvement, and our neighborhood’s observations, paint a consistent picture that goes beyond isolated incidents or unavoidable weather challenges. While I in no way, want to convey that all of your life’s work has been negative or terrible, I do want to convey to you that I believe there is a good deal of room for improvement. My decision to file a complaint was not taken lately; Over 50 years of observing countless construction sites, this is the first time I’ve ever felt the need to file a complaint. This isn’t just about my personal opinion; It’s about the impact on our properties and public areas, and the official involvement of environmental protection agencies. I hope that in future projects, which I see will be in our neighborhood as well, there will be greater emphasis on proactive and consistent environmental management to prevent similar issues for our and other communities. We live here, we love it here, and we care about our neighbors and our homes. Original review: Months on end construction of a home in our neighborhood without adequate silt fencing. Heaps of red mud have been leaking from their site and into adjacent ditches and our newly paved road (that we as members collectively paid for). There is an unusually sized mound of dirt that has been sitting on the lot for an extended amount of time causing much of the issue. Some members finally filed a complaint with state, with the issue only partially resolved-continued silt on our street and ditches full of red mud. We have never had such problems of this magnitude in our neighborhood from other builders. Do no recommend.
