A custom home that isn't custom.Cons: We love our floor plan. However, despite Prairie Homes advertising "Anyone can build a structure. The art is making it special and unique for our clients," our reality was that we were confined by extremely limited selections offered by their designated vendors.Prairie Homes' team members were not on the same page with each other or with us. As a result, many miscommunications from Prairie Homes prevented us from having exactly what we wanted, which left us frustrated.Major issues: No framing changes after a signed contract (regardless of what they promise), appliances not ordered on time for closing, 3 windows + 1 door leaked immediately after move-in, and use of non-standard closet shelf depths of 11".Pros: Quality subcontractors, fast construction time, & access to work in progress.We enjoyed working with agent & co-owner Travis T., architect Matt E., and field supervisor Brad O. However, we dreaded interactions with builder/co-owner Jeff H.While we are happy with our home, we would recommend considering a different home builder.
Had the opportunity to meet with Travis (owner) and Jackie (realtor) about doing a custom build project. They were one of a few builders that we met with. They are top notch and above their competition. Great customer service, great product and they truly care about their client's needs and vision.
Building our new home with Prairie was a great experience. They were very responsive from the beginning and worked with us to make sure we had the design we would be happy with forever. Even when we were about to settle, Jeff And Travis knew it wasn’t exactly what we wanted and got the designer to draw it perfectly. Regardless of the situation or our constant change in design by us, they were always professional and on top of it. Jesika was also amazing to work with when choosing all of the counters/cabinets/ flooring etc.
