Customer feedback is mixed. Positive reviews highlight smooth build processes on certain projects and appreciation for communication during construction. Critical reviews cite concerns with warranty follow-through, workmanship issues, and communication after closing. Prospective clients may wish to ask detailed questions about punch-list handling and warranty timelines.

Patrick Urban on Three Hammer Construction

I’ve purchased six homes over the years, three of them new construction. Without question, one of the best building experiences I’ve ever had was with Three Hammer Construction.

Back in 1992, we built with Three Hammer in Candlewick Lake. It was the smoothest and easiest build I had ever gone through. Deane was our point of contact whenever questions or small issues came up, and Maury Logan was our realtor. At the time, Three Hammer primarily built a beautiful tri-level model that many people loved.

However, because of the high water table in our area of Candlewick, I didn’t want a quarter-level basement fully underground. I asked Maury if he thought Three Hammer would consider modifying their tri-level plan into a bi-level that better suited our needs. He said he wasn’t sure, but that they were great to work with and encouraged us to sit down with them and ask.

We met with them, explained what we were hoping for, and they drew up a modified bi-level plan that was absolutely perfect for us. It included 9-foot ceilings in the basement, two code-compliant bedrooms, and large egress windows. We were thrilled—and the upcharge for the customization was minimal.

Here we are 34 years later, and I couldn’t be happier to build with them again.

Bottom line: my experience with Three Hammer has been positive from start to finish.

Worst builder in America. Long story short, we had to get a lawyer for them to fix issues that were solely their responsibility, not to mention covered under the builder warranty. We had their warranty team in our kitchen where they said “We agree there’s an Issue but it’ll cost us too much to fix”. Poor craftsmanship, poor customer service, and poor quality. I honestly believe that a high school construction class has better quality work. If you are looking at purchasing a home through Three Hammer Construction, I strongly encourage you to turn and run as fast as possible. I would also encourage anyone looking at their homes to knock on neighbors doors and ask their opinion. I bet you won’t find a single nice word.

I strongly advise against engaging with this company. My family made a substantial investment in a home from them over two years ago, totaling nearly $500,000. Regrettably, they have failed to complete the necessary warranty work within the agreed-upon timeframe and have repeatedly attempted to delegate the responsibility of following up with their subcontractors to us. We are currently facing issues such as a leaking kitchen sink, cracked countertops, and deteriorating deck wood, all of which should not be occurring after just two years. Furthermore, their lack of attentiveness and customer care is evident in their frequent last-minute cancellations of scheduled appointments. It is evident that their primary focus is profit, with minimal regard for the satisfaction and experience of their clientele. I wholeheartedly recommend steering clear of this company for your own peace of mind. Given our previous experiences with new builds, we have found that companies offering lower costs, such as New Leaf, provide better overall value for our investment. I encourage you to conduct thorough research and explore alternative options before making a purchasing decision.

We bought a home three hammer construction built in 2007, we did not buy it from the developer we are the 2nd owner
While generally the house is good, we have had some issues. The basement wasn’t tarred. They built the house in the water table or on top of a spring. We had to replace all the windows as the Pella windows installed are junk and water penetrates from the outside.
The plumber they hired didn’t provide water shut off capabilities to the master tub/shower unless you shut off the whole house. The tub faucet is built in and you can’t access it without ripping off tiling as there is no access to the lines (including from under the floor).

Pulled out the shower and found r11 insulation on an exterior wall with no vapor barrier to prevent warm humid air from the house from getting into the wall. We found mold and water damage in the wall underneath the insulation. Pictures attached.
The custom house wrap with the company information is between the studs and plywood, but there is none between the plywood and the siding.

I would not recommend buying a home they built.

Reading these negative reviews really boggles our mind. We have been building with Three Hammer since 1990. We just built our 5th home ( Oct 2015) with them and have always been 100% satisfied! We built this home as we say our condo size home with quality construction we don't believe any builder in town can come close to! We have built their models all over the price range from two stories, tri level, and ranches. We make many many changes to the floor plans as well as who we want to use for flooring, appliances, lighting etc with no problems to our contract or their quality of work. We have sold all our homes built by Three Hammer with very satisfied buyers and each one has or has had our phone number as to any questions we can answer for them! We would again in the future build with Three Hammer Construction!

Yes, you can bring your own plans or customize an existing model. The builder will review structural feasibility and local code requirements before pricing changes. Most updates are coordinated through the office and your assigned contact. You’ll receive schedule milestones and notice when selections or site meetings are needed. Ask for preferred communication channels and typical response times at contract signing. Clear expectations help keep decisions and timelines on track.

Timelines vary with plan complexity, permitting, weather, and material availability. Straightforward builds often span several months from permit to completion. Your schedule will be refined after plan approval and trade bids. Request a milestone calendar to understand key decision points.

Confirm the scope of work, allowance amounts, and finish schedules. Ask how punch-list items and post-close warranty requests are handled, including response times. Review any exclusions and change-order processes in writing. Clarifying these points upfront reduces surprises later.
